Going to Jump into it head First

Starting next month I am going to try and fix the rust around my roof mostly on the Rain Gutters. My plan is to try and save or replace the gutters if possible, I really do not want to try and shave them.

Let me start by saying i have never done any type of bodywork, so this has me very nervous. with that said, any advice before I begin would be greatly appreciated.

I have read numerous threads and I know to expect that there will be a lot more rust than what i can see.

If anyone has had similar rust, what should I watch for and how difficult should I expect this will be.

I can't help you with any expert advice, BUT!!!
On the old Overhaul'n show, they "Overhaul'd" a 67 C-10 SWB stepside pickup. A VERY cool build!!!
They removed the gutter, entirely. One piece of advice they mentioned during the gutter work, was to only cut off 12 inches or so, at a time. It made it easier to weld back up. They said something about the roof metal gets out of control if you cut all the gutter off at one time

I did see that episode. I am hoping to keep my gutters if possible.

I would still follow the same premise. Start on one end and strip the paint and sealer in small sections. Repair rust as you uncover it. Then move a little further. Prime it as you go. When all repairs are done, come back in the channel with sealer as it was originally.
I haven't done any work on there before, but maybe 1/4" angle could be used to replace rusted sections? Or just fill with mig welder if small enough area.

Wire wheel it and see more of what's there, then you'll have an idea what you're up against.

I don't mean to discourage you but there is always way more rust hidden than is seen so don't be surprised how far it goes.

You might consider cutting off the current top and replacing with a "newer" used top that is in better condition.

It does not discourage me, I am aware of that. I am sure I will find way more than I will ever be ready to tackle, but once I am in there I wont have a choice.
