I6 Identification?

I have been working on "restoring" a 65 K10 for use as a farm vehicle here in SW Missouri for about a year.

To date I have rebuilt the front axle (kingpins/bearings/seals), new brakes all around and rebuilt all 3 driveshafts. Also installed a mini-spool in the rear diff as this truck will never see pavement.

When I got the truck the 230 that was in it was locked up tight but I planned on beating it apart and and doing a full rebuild.

That plan changed when I took the head off and discovered the #5 piston was gone and there's a hole in that cylinder big enough to throw a small cat through!

I just recently acquired a 250 6 popper and was hoping the group here could help me identify the year of this motor. I think it may be somewhat newer as it has an OEM HEI unit in it, but I suppose that could have been added.

The code stamped near the HEI is: F0825CCF

I can provide some casting numbers too if needed, thanks.

Can you provide a picture of the passenger side of the engine?

Thanks for that geezer, I remember seeing that website in the past but couldn't find it when I was looking last week.

Everything I can see internally looks good so far, hoping I don't have to bore the cylinders and turn the crank but should know fairly soon.

Re: I6 Identification?

Here is a pic of the rest of the engine parts, as you can see the manifold is not integral with the head.

Hiding behind the dipstick is the letter "H".

Does that code F0825CCF still seem like it goes with a 76-77?

Thanks for all the input/comments so far!

Re: I6 Identification?

Making progress on the 250 6 cyl. build, it went 30 over on the pistons and 10 under on the rods and mains.

Crank, rods and pistons are installed. Heat fit the cam and crank timing gears today and installed the camshaft.

I pulled the pickup tube on the oil pump to put in the new one and wondered if there is supposed to be an rubber o-ring at the pump-to-pickup arm joint?

Would like to replace my dipstick tube also and wondered if anyone had a good source for them? Seems like I have gotten some in the past for small block Chev V8s and some of them didn't fit very well and would never tighten up.
