Bench Seat Parts
Hi Everyone, I am doing a 57 3100 and would like to use the original bench seat. I stripped all the covers, foam, burlap off and I have a broken spring on he left side outer of the lower seat. I also broke one of the shoulder bolts off that hold the backrest on. Does anyone have a source for these parts? Thanks Steve

Re: Bench Seat Parts
I think broken springs on the outside of the left side are par for the course.
I think that there are a couple of upholstery supply houses that supply springs but the simple solution might be to find a set of TF seat springs that you can rob some good springs out of the middle of. If you are real lucky maybe someone has a seat that they haven't tossed in the dumpster yet that could provide some decent springs for the cost of shipping and a cold beverage or two. You can't ask but I can suggest it.

Re: Bench Seat Parts
mr48 is right, broken coils are par for the 70 year old seats. you can weld them up if the ends are ok, make sure the flat edge frames dont have any weak spots either.
even if you do the upholstery guy will still call and complain and add money to fix what you already fixed because that has been my experience with literally dozens of seats and a handful of upholstery guys. but please dont rob your upholstery guy of the opportunity to complain about broken springs, they have so little.

Re: Bench Seat Parts
Thanks for the replies. I probably won't get that lucky to find someone with a old seat for parts. I am taking the seats over to the sandblaster to get blasted and primed while he does the body. I will have to figure something out. Steve

Re: Bench Seat Parts
McMaster Carr probably has the bolt you need. They are faster than Amazon.
