Any truck detectives here? Hauled home another.

I know a lot of trucks out there have never been "touched" in 50 plus years, but unless you know the history personally, you just don't know.
Posting this for fun just to see how many different years are on this truck and even different makes. I have my opinions on it at this point but lets see what you find to determine make , year and model. Maybe mention one thing and let the next person find something different.

If we can only pick one thing at a time, it has a 67 door interior; ie vent window handle and armrest.

This thing is a "parts truck" whether it likes it or not.

And you guys are GOOD. Amazing detective work.

I thought the 67 dash above the wiper knob said "Wiper" only and the 68 dash said "Wiper/Washer... so I'm with you... and I may also be 180 out and bassackwards with my opinion.

Anyone who knows care to chime in on the dash differences?

I was pointing out the metal dash itself is a 67 , Small ignition 67 only and the small lighter mount with no bezel indent . your right on the gauge cluster , She's definitely a Heinz 57 varieties

Re: Any truck detectives here? Hauled home another.

Looks to me someone replaced the cab on a 72 with a 67 cab and front clip then reused the 72 hood and the bed

Much later headlight knob too. Or maybe a generic one not sure

Column looks like a car unit late 70s as there is no gear dial and the turn signal knob

Re: Any truck detectives here? Hauled home another.

^^^^ I agree. Looks like a 67 passenger inside door handle and the tailgate has the small logo like a 67-68. Must have been a 67 big window cab?

Re: Any truck detectives here? Hauled home another.

I see the SPID quotes L25 292CuIn L6, but that's a small block Chevy V8 with rams' horn exhausts. Oil pan is painted red which is proper GMC engine color.

Har Har Har. Good point. I've heard of Circle Track guys building a ''Cheater 292'' by over boring the F&*@ out of a 250 block.
Not sure if they use a post- '68 292 crank in that, it has 12 lobes instead of 6. Some kinda midget racing voodoo.
What I meant was that a V8 is not an RPO L25 292 L6.
[* Actually, at .030-over my 292 is really 296 CuIn, but try asking for parts for a 296. They'll wonder what dimension you just phased in from...]

I wonder if in about 1980-1990 A gentleman and his 15 year old son went to the local wreckers and the father told him, "son, you can make any car you want..."

I agree on the body swap, '67 cab on '72 frame. That passenger fender had the side marker hole filled. Many odd parts are swapped, such as the instrument panel ('68)
