Seat belt retractor
My 69's OE seat belts and retractors are long gone. It has perfectly good aftermarket seatbelts, but they are non-retractable. I need something to retract the outside belts to keep them from sliding around and hitting the rocker panels.
Would something like these OER retractors work? Any comments or suggestions?

Re: Seat belt retractor
Why not switch to a 3 point harness with a retractor? Safer and it retracts too!
Photos of ones I put in my Burban. Not good photos but photos.

Re: Seat belt retractor
I really don't want to spend $200. Not only that but I had a problem with the aftermarket retractable set I put in my 82 Square. The retractable side would get tighter and tighter while I was driving, to the point where I had to undo and reconnect the belt. Do you have that problem with yours? Mine were from Juliano's. I wish someone would copy the OE mechanism, because it worked fine and didn't get tighter.

Re: Seat belt retractor
From http://buckle-up.net/
They had the aqua green color in stock (For some reason not many vendors sell that color. Unfathomable as to why that would be! It's green! Everyone loves green! ). The delivery went off without a hitch too.

Re: Seat belt retractor
the retractors in your first post work, I had them in a 65 Impala. But, all they really do is significantly shorten the belt when retracted - but you still have to lay the belt and buckle down "somewhere" - they aren't an unhook-and-let-go deal, if you do that they will slap off of the door metal and scratch it.
Have you considered getting a set of used retractors off the parts board? You can send them out to be rebuilt, possibly re-dyed to match your interior. I sent a set to SSnake-Oyl, not expensive and kept it stock. https://www.ssnake-oyl.com/ |
