Has anyone come up with a good dog divider?
We like to travel in the Suburban as much as possible, the problem is with my 1 year old in the rear facing car seat in the middle bench, he's perfectly positioned for my 16 month German Shepherd to assault him with excessive amounts of "love" via face lickings from the back of the truck.
Has anyone come up with a good solution to keep the pup safely in the back of the truck while traveling?

Thanks Woody. Theres definitely a few different materials that would work to build a custom partition from, I'm curious if anyone has found something a little more "off the shelf" that worked well. I'm guessing not but figured Id poll the audience.

Could you replace one of the carriage bolts holding the rear plywood down with an eyebolt and secure a rope to that to keep him from getting to the seat? This would probably be easier and more visually appealing unless you are wanting a full divider.

That would probably work, but Id prefer a full divider. The other option is to put his crate back there, but thats a pain every time you want to move something else besides the dog.

I had looked at those as they make them for the 4Runner too.....everyone with Shepherds, Mals, and Labs all said that the creative ones will find their way though the sides over time.

I've seen used ones come up at city auctions occasionally. Ex-police & fire units.

Re: Has anyone come up with a good dog divider?
Yes, the Travel Guard is kind of the direction I was looking to go.
This is what I'm using in my wife's daily driver 4Runner and it works really well...ignore the side pieces (this isn't a pic of our truck). It mounts under the head rests and uses the bolts on the side where the factory hooks go. Something simple and form fitting like this would be ideal but might not be doable in the Suburban because of the lack of an upper mounting location.

Re: Has anyone come up with a good dog divider?
It depends on the year. At some point between 67 & 72 GM started installing them. My 67 doesn't have them and I wish I had had the foresight to install them before I installed my headliner.

Re: Has anyone come up with a good dog divider?
Gotcha. My 71 does. After replying I had to check of those plugs covered threaded holes or not when I got home.

Re: Has anyone come up with a good dog divider?
Yes, mine does as well....I'm currently running the 3 point belts both front and rear. I could probably use those to mount the divider as well.

Re: Has anyone come up with a good dog divider?
Or if your dog is crate trained you could always put the crate in back and lock it down good. Less chance of fido getting hurt in case of an accident.

Re: Has anyone come up with a good dog divider?
Yup, he's crate trained. The problem is I often use the truck for hauling other stuff when I don't have the dog with me and removing and reinstalling the crate is a pain. The crate also rattles something awful while driving.
