Chassis and Body Parts Catalog Question

What's the best resource for original part numbers for our trucks? I always thought that the Chassis and Body Parts Catalog 1946-72 1/2 thru 1 Ton Trucks 10-20-30 May, 1979 was the go-to source. While looking for some misc part numbers for my 70 C10 I noticed that some of them fell in the groups 10-15. It seems these groups were not included in the above mentioned book. Do any of y'all know what book includes the part numbers that were in those sections?

It's a real PITA to use, and I don't know if it works for body parts, but I have found all kinds of GM part numbers here:

Thanks Mike. I've used that site too. You're right, ton of info but what a pain. I'm just surprised that there wouldn't be a printed book that covers groups 10-15. Especially since this was a time before computers. How would parts guys have known what to order or pull? Did they all just know all those part numbers in there heads? Hard to believe.

Chris, does your 70 C10 still have a 307? When I got my 69 it had a 307, but after adding a small 4bbl and dual exhaust thru turbo mufflers, the truck felt like it had 25% more power. And maybe it did!

I eventually replaced it with a 350, but always wished I had just rebuilt it using 64cc heads for improved flow and higher compression.

I think 307s get a bad rap because they were all low compression with 2bbl carb and single exhaust. I mean if a stroked 350 is cool, why not a stroked 283?

Yep. It still has a 307. I’ve debated the 307 vs 350 thing too. I’ve read a ton of info on that subject on this forum and others. The car guys have the same conversation.

I'm sure a lot of those part numbers are no longer valid due to them being superseded or discontinued.

Those listings helped me a lot to find various parts when I replaced a 250-six with a 350 in an 82 C10.

I'm not saying all the parts are still available new, but I found a lot of them on eBay and a couple NOS parts at GM dealers around the country. One was even listed as a part for a Buick, another for a Corvette!

I was only able to do that because I had the part numbers.

Maybe so but you’d be surprised what parts are still out there. I know everyone doesn’t feel the same way but most times I try to find original parts before relying on aftermarket parts. So, the “old” part numbers have been very helpful to me. That’s why I’m trying to locate an easy to use source for those groups that are missing in the parts book.
