Hope to have this soon

1969 Custom Longhorn, 2nd Owner, 46500 miles unrestored, PS and PB, 1st owner had a camper on it and tailgate was removed and I assume kept by the dealer, 2nd owner found and had painted and installed a NOS tailgate. Painted wood floor matches body color. 350 engine and 400 TH. Original paint. Had Camper mirrors at one time. I never really watched the market on these. Any thoughts on price?

What a beauty. An unrestored original is likely going to run you north of 20K. Good luck!

Re: Hope to have this soon

Just something to think about with the claim of original paint....the driver door should have a build month sticker, which started on the 1970 models. Sorta odd that it and the plug are missing.

Thanks for the heads up, I guess I was thinking they were on the jam side. Going to look at it again this weekend. I saw it 2 years ago but wasn't in the market and he wasn't sure about selling it. A good price though even if its a repaint

This had me second guessing myself. Went out and checked my 1970 C10. Inside driver door edge has the blue sticker as well as a silver plastic plug in that hole, as 402bowtie mentioned. The jamb side has the VIN plate with the rosette rivets.

The missing label has been clarified, Its a 1969. My memory is fading. I hadn't seen the truck in two years. Going Thursday to inspect again. Any particulars about 69's that you can clue me in on would be appreciated.

I should have the picture of the SPID here in a few minutes

That makes sense.

I would ask if they have the Protect-o-Plate. That will list the serial numbers of the truck, engine, transmission, and rear axle. Verifying those would give some more confidence on the low miles.

Maybe also look at the bed for signs that a camper was mounted at one time. If it really did have a camper AND it has original paint, I would expect to see some bolt holes.

Nice looking truck for sure!

Nice truck. That is an uncommon shade of blue, I think, or perhaps it is just me.

I thought GM trucks didn't have "matching numbers drivetrains" until 1973?

That is a beautiful truck and I love that blue.

Re: Hope to have this soon

it's my understanding the protecto-plate in the warranty booklet, has the vin # and the engine number.it is that way on my 1967 impala wagon.the engine number TO215KL is on the engine and on the protecto-plate.that's the proof, the original "numbers matching" engine is still in there.i'm not going to say for 100% but i'd be surprised if the trucks weren't the same way.i don't have any of that info for my 72 truck and wish i did.

Re: Hope to have this soon

That is a beautiful truck. Longhorns used to not bring the big money regular long beds and short beds were bringing. They are climbing now. Prices are all over. I'd guess it to be $10-15k if not higher if they know what they have.

Is the spid still there? A lot of times the inside of the glove box door won't get painted or they will mask around the spid. I'd check that as well.

Re: Hope to have this soon

The SPID looks like it is all there to me. One thing I'm wondering though...No mirrors are called out in the SPID. I think the camper mirrors would have been called out if they were original to the truck.

In the later years, no mirrors called out on the SPID would equate to "sport mirrors" being installed. I'm not sure what the base mirror was in 69. I would have guessed the little mirrors, but that doesn't appear to be what was installed.

BTW, the grille looks correct/original too. See post #5 here for details.

Nice looking truck! Pretty rare to see a 69-70 with the factory grille and in such nice condition too. Beautiful.
