Did the 67-72 have a 3 way or a 4 way Ignition Switch

since I got a '71 frankentruck with god knows what in it (and an ignition with a short in it), I went out and bought a 3 way GM ignition switch off AMAZON, installed it and it's working, but now I am wondering if these trucks came with a 4 way

I'm going to be rewiring it soon and doing something radical so I wonder if I painted myself into a corner with that 3 way

If by 3 way you mean OFF/ON/START. 1967's came that way and in 68 they added the ACC position. The ACC position allows you to sit and listen to the radio without power being applied to the ignition system. Having power to the ignition with the engine off is particularly hard on the points when the engine stops and the points are just barely open allowing a continuous arc to occur.

If it breaks I didn't want it in the first place

thank you I found this pic, this is what I think when I think 3 way, and when you say ACC was it in this order:

OFF - ACC - ON - START

or in this order

ACC - OFF - ON - START

I hope that makes sense, I apologize for being dense, it's just hard when you have three trucks from three different eras and who knows what's been done did to them over the last half a century

The switch in the picture is not a proper replacement for these trucks. It's more of a universal switch and lacks some terminals for proper installation. Also, you will have to replace every terminal on the existing wires.. I don't recommend you use it.. An exact replacement switch can be obtained from several vendors, including Summit Racing and Classic Industries.

I just assumed you were planning on using the Advanced Design switch as part of your "Radical" conversion.
