Bagged 72 c10 sbc 327 with 4 spd manual t10 and dropped spindles need advice on headers that tuck

I used full-length Patriot #H8048 on an 82 C10 and they tucked up great. Much better than Hooker or Hedman. 1-5/8" primaries, 3" collector.

I see where the same P/N is supposed to fit 69-91 2WD trucks.

I'm using the Summit 1 1/2" tube headers on my '71. I only have the 307, so small primaries are perfect for me. These also come in coated, and Stainless.

If you have the OEM clutch linkage, not sure the mid length Chevelle headers will work. Anybody verify that?

Headers suck on a 2 wheel drive truck as they hang too low. If I was building a truck for the street (I know yours is already together…) I would run the V8 in the 6 cylinder position and use 4x4 headers which don’t hang near as low, routing the pipes above the trans crossmember and not below then routing through the trailing arm crossmember rather than underneath.

And C3 Corvette headers are possibly the same as the 4x4 headers. With that in mind, the 2 1/2” Corvette manifolds are always a good choice. Just takes a GOOD muffler guy to make the connections.

The 3/4 length headers don't clear clutch linkage is correct. That's great info on using 4x4 headers with V8 mounted in 6cyl position. I know the full-length 4x4 headers tuck nicely.

A couple more things to consider: Header tube wall thickness is 14, 16, or 18 gauge. Also, flange thickness can be 1/4", 5/16", or 3/8". The minimum for me has always been 16 gauge tubes and 5/16" flanges.

Some of the higher priced models, like Hedman's Elite series, will have 3/8" flanges and 14 gauge tubes. But they are very expensive, and the set I had many years ago on my 69 C10 2WD didn't fit well. Turns out their "test mule" must have been a 67-68 truck or a 4WD truck with the engine mounted a couple inches rearwards. A guy at Hedman later told me they either modified those or introduced a new P/N for 69-72. That was almost 20 years ago, so I don't remember!
