Long stepside bed to Shot
Hello guys,
I need help here. I have stepside long bed for 1979-87 and I want to make it shorter to fit my C10 1978. Anyone has exact measures and where to cut & if possible a guide or drawing will be awsome. P.S: shortbed is not available here and would cost fortune to bring from USA. Thanks Posted via Mobile Device |

Doesn't look like rust is a problem where you are, ha. This thread might be helpful.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=541190 Generally speaking shortbeds are 6.5 feet long, I believe. Someone might chime in, otherwise I might remember to measure mine for you. No reason to overthink it: just measure five times and cut once, and do so to fit it to the 1978. And order a couple new "steps" for a shortbed.

Re: Long stepside bed to Shot
Thank you for the pictures but if possible, could you please take a photo of the whole bed side with measures from fender holes to front and rear edges so I can know how much should I cut.

Is that not what I gave you? I don't know if I have room to get it all in one pic. I'll see.

Re: Long stepside bed to Shot
Ok, I tried to copy your pics with my short bed. When you're ready to mark it out to cut I can spend some time with ya getting it right. It looks like you'll be cutting off some in front of the fender and some behind it.

Re: Long stepside bed to Shot
Travelled 400 miles to get the long bed, turns out the bed was covered by a welded steel plate & it seems I will be having a very long day taking it out.
The goal is to remove sides and make clean cut. Will see tomorrow, it’s 11 Pm here. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Long stepside bed to Shot
That looks like it will be easy to shorten...when I did my IH bed I had to work around stamped areas of the bed...but it worked out great..

Re: Long stepside bed to Shot
It was a struggle to remove the 3 mm steel plate as it was welded to the whole sides, managed to save sides without too much damages.
