GMC Barn Find?
I slept late (which is rare) this morning and missed my brother's call and text. So you guys get to wait for more information like I do. His phone has been busy (voice mail).
Here is his text: "I’m waiting for more pictures from my friend Shan but he said if I wanted to free truck I could come get it what do you think"? I wished I could get through and freaking say "YES"!.

Re: GMC Barn Find?
Talked to my brother - the "deal" is fluid at this moment. It seems my brother woke up to the information / photos this morning like I did, as his buddy texted him after my brother had gone to bed.
The additional information is the truck was being "worked on" by an older fellow and he passed away before completing the truck. That was in 1988 or so and we can clearly see it has been sitting in that shed since. I told Nate (my brother) the next photo you need to get is the glovebox for the SPID. More information to follow as I get it :-) Oh, when he called me back my first question to him was: "Are you in your truck with an empty trailer"? LOL!

Re: GMC Barn Find?
Oh well, the deal changed a bit. It is no longer free, so we aren't that sure now. He has to pay $500.00 for it.
Ha! Just joking, my brother is getting it for 5 hundred bucks! Has title and has found out all the trim is in the truck cab or in the bed. No idea about the engine / transmission bits but my brother is already talking crate engine. The GMC has a special place in our hearts. Our grandfather had a (I think 70s) that he bought new and drove the wheels off it. We both remember driving all over Houston it in with we were wee lads. Heck he would put us in his lap and dive it - so the GMC would have been out first vehicle to drive.

Re: GMC Barn Find?
Nate has already reached out to his friend to see if he would go get a photo of the SPID.
I swear to God Nate gets all the best deals. I think there is this show where guys start off with some random POS item and start trading "Up". Then by the end of the show they end up with like cars and boats (or something like that). That is my brother... he can start off with a cooler and end up with some cool classic car. I am surprised you guys haven't start guessing about the truck. Is it 1/2, 3/4? Is it long or short? Wonder it if auto or standard ... AC? Heck, what year model?

Re: GMC Barn Find?
Hey now it’s no longer 4/1 so don’t mess with us…
Looks like 6 lugs to me. Two tone light blue/ivory 68?? Definitely long bed. I hope it’s original paint, and I can’t wait to see the interior…

Re: GMC Barn Find?
LOL, I bet if I had posted this yesterday no way anyone would have believed me. But this is not a late April's fool joke. It's the real deal.

Re: GMC Barn Find?
Great to have such a great deal find you! It is a repaint. I wonder what the story is. Were mirrors, lights, wipers, emblems ever put back on after the paint? Has it just been sitting since it was painted?

Re: GMC Barn Find?
We do know it was a re-paint and the fellow was in the process of putting it back together after the painting. Sadly he passed away mid-project. You can see the wipers in the grill area and I think a front stabilizer bar?
The forum compresses photos when you attach them, but on my laptop I can see the over-spray on the inner wheel wells. So I have crop and reposted two of the photos

Looks like it will be a good project, especially for that price.

Re: GMC Barn Find?
Nice find! Being out of the elements for the last 35 years is a big plus. Looks like it will make a nice factory type restoration, if you go that route!
