High pressure power steering hose
Hi, I've replaced the ps hose twice in three years on my son's 97 suburban. One was a Gates, one was AC Delco. However both were made in China and both leaked at the compression crimp fitting where the hard line and rubber line meet. Are there any places that have NOS hoses that are better quality out there? Are they all Chinese now?

Re: High pressure power steering hose
I will say there are a bunch of fake AC Delco parts out there. I don't even trust the brick and mortar stores for AC Delco. I only buy AC Delco from places like
gmpartsdirect.com Gmpartsonline.net These are actual dealerships with reasonable prices. At least reasonable when compared to the dealerships here in Vegas.

Re: High pressure power steering hose
I've always used Edelman or Gates brands and been completely satisfied. It's not inadvertently being installed in a bind is it ?
My buddy at the GM dealer parts counter tells me that AC Delco has three tiers of parts. The GM dealer gets the top tier. Also on Rockauto they offer "exact factory" Delco parts which should be top tier. Once you get away from those two sources, all bets are off as to which quality level of AC Delco parts you're getting. This is the reason I seldom buy auto parts from Amazon. That place is full of counterfeit everything. I seldom have concerns with knock off stuff from Rockauto as they're shipping from a proper auto parts distribution warehouse.

Re: High pressure power steering hose
It's not binding when installed. The crimps literally get loose and start leaking. I'm still wondering if the top tier AC Delco is made in China. Just seems like everything is and they are cheaply made. I can see the difference in quality when comparing the new AC to the original line. I have some NOS lines for my older trucks and they are much heavier crimps.

Re: High pressure power steering hose
Im not too happy with the dealership parts myself. I have had a few go out and Im stuck. Last AC Delco was my power steering pump. I even left the "Made in China" sticker on it. It went out two months after the warranty expired. Somehow I had to replace ALL three of my lines as well. Hmm.
Yeah I think Rockauto is the way to go. As for AC Delco? I pretty much lost all respect. But hey thats me. Good luck |

Re: High pressure power steering hose
I know this is a little on the expensive side, but why not use it? https://www.pscmotorsports.com/all-p...-hk-psghp.html I used this and the lower pressure return line on my '57 and they work great. No leaks at all. The fittings can be reused and if you ever need to replace the high pressure hose, it isn't that hard to find.

Re: High pressure power steering hose
Can you maybe find a local shop that does hydraulic hoses and have them make up a hose using your metal ends? A buddy of mine in Massachusetts keeps hundreds of different hose ends in stock.
