Fleetside Trim
I am needing some measurements of fleet side trim. For example, I am looking for the width of the top piece of trim on the bedsides, and the narrower piece of trim below that. I have the length, just need the width. I am told that the top trim is 1 inch wide, and the lower piece is 1/2 inch wide. I am not sure this info is correct. Also need the distance between the two pieces. I am told that this is 1 1/2 inches, is this correct? I do know that the painted stripe is 2 1/2 inches wide as far as I know. Thanks for any info.

Re: Fleetside Trim
When I read these measurements in the assembly manual, the part I missed was how to establish the lines that the all the holes reference? For instance and on the bed, how do you establish the horizontal line "25" and the vertical line "60"? All the measurements are pulled from those two reference points. But, I did not read how to find those lines on the truck.

Re: Fleetside Trim
I believe the top molding is 1.5” down from the body crease.
I followed this and didn’t drill any holes, used 3m HD double sided tape and plastic pieces between. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=597891

Re: Fleetside Trim
I used 3m also taped it to the truck until I got everything Lind up first so it was straight if you go just by measurements the bed and cab trim doesn’t line up you need to cheat a little

Thanks to all who posted on installation of fleetside trim. Lots of good info. I am still looking for info on the width of the trim. As I mentioned before, I have been told that the upper trim is 1 inch wide and the more narrower trim is 1/2 inch wide. Something just tells me this isn't correct. Many thanks to anyone who can give me the correct measurements. |

Re: Fleetside Trim
I'm still not sure on the exact location for the holes for the fleetside trim.
There have been some conflicting responses, one post says top holes are 1 1/2 down from the center crease, another states 2 1/8. I had a hard time de-coding the factory diagram that someone posted. 1. What are the measurements from the body crease, down to the center of the holes for the upper moulding? 2. What is the distance for the center of the upper holes, to the center of the lower holes? 3. What is the size of the painted stripe? Attached is a pic of a previous posters truck |

Re: Fleetside Trim
My 65 had no holes so I used the 3M method as well. I couldn't get the white stripe measurements communicated to my painter so once it was painted and home I used white vinyl for the stripe between. Because the stripe runs under the trim it doesn't have to be exactly spot on for placement. I still needed all the measurements you need and I just checked my notes.
From the crease down the the center of the top holes is 1 7/8". From the top hole to the bottom holes it's 2 1/2" center to center. (or 4 3/8" down from crease to center of the bottom holes) |
