Changing out parking brake

Any major complications involved in changing out the parking brake set up on my 82 to the 84-87 style? I need some room for my exhaust and I'm looking at options.

Re: Changing out parking brake

I found where the parking brake attaches to backing plate on my ff 14 bolt were different and had to switch to the 84+ backing plates.

That's what I was wondering if the backing plates were different. Other than that and the cable mounting bracket it should be interchangeable right?

It really is quite a bit different. You may have to source some of the brackets from a junk yard. I feel like they were rivited onto the frames but I could be wrong.

These diagrams will get you in the right direction.
