Comfortable shocks, like OEM?
Looking for shocks for my dad's 75 GMC Gentleman Jim.
The truck rode very comfortably from the factory. I am replacing all the rubber in the body/suspension -- body mounts, control arms, etc. With rubber, no poly. What would be a comparable shock to what it came with from the factory? AC Delco Professional gas charged? |

Re: Comfortable shocks, like OEM?
Not sure what a Gentleman Jim is? Do not think the trucks came with gas shocks in that era. Any gas shock will be firmer than stock. Honestly, unless you want performance. Visit your local auto parts store and purchase the least expensive name brand shock they have. It will be fine.
I have used KYB's in the the past. The base level shock may be your preference. I have used the Gas-A-Just on my once lowered 94 which is a bit firmer than stock but still rides nice. BIL has the base shocks on his 95 Suburban, IMO a little soft due to the vehicles weight. Have Bilstein's on the 94 now but is lifted. Rides real nice.

Re: Comfortable shocks, like OEM?
Monroe shocks:
OE Spectrums or Gas Magnums are decent OE type shocks (Magnums = higher pressure option). KYB shocks: Excel-G line is closer to a 'stock' shock vs. their Gas-a-Just line (Gas-a-Just = higher pressure option).
