Aftermarket wider rear wheel wells
I was wondering if anyone with a wood bed has used the aftermarket 2 or 4 inch wider than stock wheel wells. I’m running 295/40/20 tires and have noticed that sometimes when I have done a little rowdy driving it leaves a little rubber marks on the inside of the fender well figured this would give me some wiggle room. Just wondering how the install went and possible a pic on how well they sit on the bed strips. Thanks

Re: Aftermarket wider rear wheel wells
Sorry I'm not really answering about the wheels tubs. I had the same problem with the 295/40/20 tires and plasma cut a 3/16 spacer and haven't had the problem since.
I was running Toyo tires and switched to the Nitto NT555 g2 about the same time. My rear wheel wells seemed a little concave in towards the tire, but I had done so much body work to them, I was afraid to try to ease them out... Sounds like you have wood bed floor since you mention strips? |

Re: Aftermarket wider rear wheel wells
I am also using Nitto NT555 G2 my truck is a 72 short box and it was ordered with leaf springs I converted it over to trailing arms and QA1 coil overs so I may have had the rub with the leaf springs but I’m taking the truck apart for paint and was considering the wider wheel tubs.

Re: Aftermarket wider rear wheel wells
I run 2" wider tubs. I have coilovers in the rear and there was not enough room for 4" tubs, but I really didn't need them. I got them from Jegs. They are pretty nice. I do have a steel floor.

Re: Aftermarket wider rear wheel wells
This is a '64 swb floor but same basic layout w/the 4" wider 67-72 tubs.
