Shocks! Need some info please

Hey guys, just picked up a truck to tinker with and swapped the wheels out to 18/20’s. The front is a good bit higher than I would like so ordering a 3in drop spindle and would like to know what shocks would work best for street driving, just a cruiser, no racing and such.

I don’t really want to spend $600-$800 on a set of QA1’s but would like a decent shock that’s good with the lowered front end. Let me know what you guys use and what I may need to do please!

I run KYB shocks on some of my street driven builds. There are lots of part numbers available with different compression and rebound dimensions to fit lots of ride heights.

What vin63 said….you need to be at your desired ride height to get some measurements….its not a perfect science

Dropped spindles require no change in shocks length.

KYB are decent, I would buy those.

I run Monroe Blue on my '77 C10 daily driver, they are a bit on the soft side, but perfectly fine.

I bought Monroe Black (better than the blue) for my '61. Untested at the moment, but I've run blacks on other vehicles and been pleased.

Don't stress it.

I've used KYB Gas-A-Just on the front of a couple of lowered trucks and they ride well and dampen body motion pretty well. They're just slightly on the soft side for my preference but definitely better than a stock or lower level gas shock. If you're only doing spindles you can use stock fitment shocks.

As someone said earlier, you dont need to change shocks with a spindle drop. Something I didn't know when I lowered mine lol so I have four brand new CPP drop shocks if yours was spring dropped and you need a pair

KYB makes three levels of shocks with more aggressive dampening as you go up.
