Horn button removal (1973)?
Anybody KNOW how to remove this GMC horn button without breaking off the tabs, that secure it? Near as I can tell there is no way to get behind it? My guess is I need to poke a screwdriver in the side to pop it off?

I removed my 74 Chevrolet horn button using a hooked dental pick. It should pop out without too much difficulty. Just do not force it out hard, unless your replacing it?

Re: Horn button removal (1973)?
Those buttons ARE designed to come off without breaking. Of course, with the plastic nearing 50 years old, there is always a risk even with gentle prying. Yes, they just pry off. I have used screwdrivers. If you care about the wheel, might try a putty knife to spread out the pressure.
My problem hasn't been getting the buttons off. Its the parts under the button that are often very fragile, or rusty. |
