Stopped to fill-up on my home from work yesterday. A guy drove into the gas station and asked me if I would sell my truck. He actually offered me $ 6,000.00. Now, I know he wasn't flashing any cash. And he was probably "B.S.'n" me. But do you know I told him "It's not for sale"? Am I nuts or what? I could probably buy another one just like it (in a LOT better condition) for that much money! I just cannot sell my "Baby". I plan to start the restoration soon. My wife thinks I should have sold it. That's how much I paid for the thing 10-years ago. Oh yeah, it's an all-white, '72 Cheyenne LWB, 350/350, with 10" Cragar S/S.

Had a guy told me one time to go to the Chevy dealer and pick out the new short step 4x4 that I would want and he would trade me straight up. I told him he was nuts for offering and I was nuts for not taking it...............

LWB for 6k. I'd a sold it myself. If you're planning on a restoration in the future you could do a shortbed for the same money.

Just because you get offered AKC show winner bucks for you old faithful family mutt doesn't mean you should sell it. Strange as it may sound, theres more going on here than just nuts and bolts to some of us.

Similar situation:
Driving down the freeway at about 80mph. A guy in a Harley Davidson Edition F150 Crew drives up next to me. I've got my window down (no A.C.) and his passenger roles down his window. The guy offers me 10 grand. I also said ' Not for sale' i probably have almost that much into this truck (not including labor), but I was thinking I could have built another from the ground up with 10,000. I seriosley think my wife would have killed me though.

I drive my 71 only occasionaly but with just over 10k into it someone would need to offer around 20 before I would consider it. If they did they would definatley be one of those people with more dollars than sense.

I know I should have sold it! Problem is, I just happen to be one of those weird guys that get attached to their vehicles. Once you get to know every nut, bolt & screw on the thing, it's hard to let go. At least it is for me. I've got a resto-custom, '68 VW Beetle (took me 3-years to finish) that I am supposed to sell to help finance this project and I am having a very difficult time parting with it. I put a rediculously high price on it and parked it out front of the house one afternoon. Nobody bought it that day and it went back into the garage. I'll try again some time...

I had a guy at the local cruise-in this past summer ask me a few times if I wanted to sell my truck. I asked him how much he would give out of curiosity...he kept offering me less than I paid for the truck about $5k ago. Tried to tell me it was a hell of a deal. I may still be in High-School but I ain't no dummy

last time that happen to me I said yes calling his bluff and boom the truck was gone with cashin my pocket . 3 years later its back in my drive way. I couldnt live with out it anymore.

My Comet is more valuable to me than money. The car has been in my family for 30 odd years. My dad owned it first (I remember being driven to my very first day of school in it, with the top down, of course), then my grandpa owned it until he passed away from cancer a couple weeks before 9/11. He left the car my mother in his will, she couldn't do anything with the car, so she gave it to me. The car will eventually be pristine and no amount of money will make me part with it.

I also get attached to my vehicles.

Terry, I'd like to see some pics of your bug. I had a 68 Squareback in high school and my brother has a very nice 63 Sedan.

If you've got a dollar amount given that sounds good to you,
I'd say go for it. I'd take the money and keep it until I
saw a good deal come up for another one either in better
condition or for less or both! (Not to imply that yours is
in bad shape, I've never seen it.)

The only offers I've had have been less than serious, with
no $ amount mentioned. If they don't give an amount, I'm
pretty sure they're just fishin' for a cheap deal.

I would sell it for the right amount, before I get too much work
into it. But, there's a point that I wouldn't sell it too. Like
if I removed all the rust from the cab and was near ready to have
it painted.

I have had my truck since i was 14 my dad bought it for me for my bday i am 20 now and have about 3000 in it and he bought it for 2000 and i hade a guy ofer me 5500 for it and he hade cash on the spot and i said no so you are not crazy

My dad has taught me the same thing...anything is always for sale for the right price. Once I was at work and some guy came in and asked who owned the yellow GMC out there. Of course, I spoke up...and the guy asked if it was for sale. "Actually, sir," I said, "it is your lucky day. It is for sale. $5,000 firm." He frowned and left. I guess it wasn't his lucky day. If he would have been dumb enough to give me $5k for it, I would have taken it back then (only owned it about 2 months, and old 4x4's are everywhere), but not now. I wouldn't sell it unless forced, and even then I would fight it tooth and nail. I love my truck

If the price is right...SELL IT. I have learned from burn about falling in lust with a truck or car, and not taking a legit offer when I should have.

I rolled up in my 77 Cheyenne at a Super Chevy Show, and the first guy that walks up asks if it's for sale. Without a second of hesitation I said "yes it is". He asked for a price, and I shot one at him just as fast. He spent the day drooling on it, only to decide he really wanted a 66-67 Chevelle that a buddy had back home

My philosophy is everything around my house is for sale except my wife, my daughter, and my dog. There are days when my wife could be bought too...:p
