1984 Wiper Issue
Evening all! Having an interesting issue with my wipers on my 84. I’m searched and searched though old posts and couldn’t find anyone with the exact same conditions as I’m having.
Anyway, the issue is the wipers won’t park 90% of the time. They just stop where they are when I turn them off. Sometimes if I leave then where they are after I turn them off, they’ll stay still for about ten seconds and then return to park. I’ve replaced the motor (twice) and the switch in the steering column. Any ideas or things to try? |

Re: 1984 Wiper Issue
Since you have replaced the wiper motor (which includes the parking switch) twice, it seems unlikely that the parking switch itself is at fault. However, the wiring that goes to the parking switch might have a poor / loose connection.
The most likely place for that to occur would be at the plug on the wiper motor. The one for the parking switch is the 2-wire plug up on the gearbox end of the motor with the gray and black w/ light blue stripe wires. Try wiggling that connector to see if it makes a difference. If so, you might have to replace the terminals inside (or try carefully bending them a little with a pick so they make better contact). |

Re: 1984 Wiper Issue
Another great piece of advice! Thanks for the picture with the part number. I’ll look into that as well. Where exactly is that located in the truck?

I assume that TKCR and rhamer88 are working with pulse wipers option I did see that if you both had that option or not. I do not have that option have not seen that part on the steering column. Very Kool info. .

Re: 1984 Wiper Issue
Yea I was looking around last night and figured out that picture you posted was for pulse wipers. I wish I had pulse wipers, quite the convenient upgrade! Thank you for sharing though…that’s what this hobby is all about.
