Transmission Day

Whether on the road or in the garage. Old or new. Manual or auto. Greasy and leaky. Sparkly and fresh. Lets celebrate our transmissions and be inclusive of transfer cases.

Currently in pieces, but here’s my sm319 overdrive transmission. I sure miss having the overdrive since I broke a part last summer. The blocker ring on the sun gear control plate is what broke. Thankfully I have a parts transmission that had the exact parts I needed

Re: Transmission Day

Nice transmission to have in your C/30. I'm fresh out of NV4500s. I like to keep spare drivetrain parts for anything I run. In my '92 K3500 the third gear ring broke and made the truck go clunkity clunk. I made it home from a good hour down into Virginia. This was back in '10 when we had back to back 30"+ snows (a day between) and there was nowhere to pull off anywhere.

Fortunately, I had a spare NV4500/NP241 combo I pulled from the '95 K3500 which had met it's unfortunate fate. Both were low mile crate units I bought from GM. It sure was nice back when you could just order one from GM.

Here is a lesser seen unit

Re: Transmission Day

I bought this a million years ago to go behind my Caddy 500 that I was going to put in the panel. I had it built by TCI, it’s a turbo 400 and I had them put in the shorter Chev style tail shaft. Much later I found out the engine I bought from a board member was actually a 425. I can use the trans on a Chevy with an adapter.

My grandma always drove those old Cadillac's.

Oh the memory's.

They have 425's 472's and 500's in differant ones she owned.

Yeah they still make adapters.

Here's my contribution. A T350C (that's a T350 with the lockup converter) and a Gearvendor that's in my Burban. The photo is during the installation.
