Tire size suggestions
I know i've been off a while, but have had some other projects going on lately. So took the truck out last weekend and the steering wheel was shaking like crazy. Got out to check my front tires and noticed that they're coming apart! To bad to even drive to a tire shop. Anyway, since I need 4 new ones (backs got bald somehow anyways) I want to change sizes. I currently have 235/50R17 all around. I've never liked the way they've looked. I'd like to have a taller tire in back, and the same or maybe not as wide on the front. Having a hard time finding the same tire in the sizes i'm looking for. Closest i've found so far is Nitto NT555 275/50r17 for the back and Nitto NT555 225/50r17 for the front. I'm basically wanting to fill that big void over the rear tires. Wondering if anyone has ever done this, or has any other size suggestions.
Thanks, David

Re: Tire size suggestions
look into a 70 series tire if you want bigger diameter.

Re: Tire size suggestions
I used to run 70s years ago when i had 15" wheels, but with 17" wheels 70s get way to tall., too much side wall. Unless I'm doing the calcs wrong. But thanks

Re: Tire size suggestions
They would definitely fill it out better. But your still only abot 29 in tall. If say a 30 maybe 31 inch tall rear tire.
Maybe a 275/60 or 295/50or 295/60 would give you a taller tire in the 30 to 31 ish tall size.

Re: Tire size suggestions
A 275/55-17 should fill it up nicely.
This is a good tool to visualize the different sizes https://tiresize.com/comparison/ |

Re: Tire size suggestions
I run 275 55 17 on the rear and 235 55 17 on the front of my ‘69 and am very happy with that. But nobody makes those tires in a matched set in those size anymore…. My truck is a step side and that’s pretty much max on the back. Your fleet should be able to accomodate a wider tire in the rear of same height (29”)

Re: Tire size suggestions
I put 245/70-17 tires on the wife's truck. That's about a 30.5 inch tall tire. I think it works well. I'll have to take a picture to post.

Re: Tire size suggestions
Finding a matched set is the problem i'm finding. The 70's tires would be great for the back, but i can't find a match for the front. I'd like about a 29" for the rear and approx 10-11" wide. 2" smaller in the front 26-27" and would rather them not be as wide 8-9" as the rear. I'm not sold on the Nitto's. they'd be 27.8 x 10.8 rear and 25.9 x 8.9 front. That gives me about 2" more in back, and about the same in the front, but they'd match. I do plan on doing a spindle drop 2-2.5" in the future, and drop back 2-3" also. Thanks, and keep looking and let everyone know if find another matched set. Thanks, David
