Hood and Rad Support best fit.
So right now I am so mad at myself I can't even look in the mirror.
After doing some work on the lift I dropped my 72 GMC down to start and check for leaks. Start the truck and the neutral safety switch I needed to get around to adjusting of course did not protect my dumb ass from starting in drive. And as luck would have it, the work bench edge was the perfect height to not only take out the top grill edge but also the the hood. And for good measure, bend the radiator support. I am sure a good body man could straighten this out but I do not have that skill. I am still not thinking clearly from anger and lack of sleep so maybe the group here can assist with opinions on best fitting hood and support. |

So sorry for your misfortunate accident.
I have done similar stuff like this as well. There are several members of the board that post parts for sale in CA. Maybe some of them live close to you that would have what you need. Since your a subscribing member you could post a WTB add. I am sure you have your NSS fixed now.

That hood can easily be fixed. A new hood will cost at least $530 and will need paint. The center chrome piece on the grill shell is available at LMC for $189 part#36-7050 https://www.lmctruck.com/1967-72-che...grille-for-gmc Judging from the hood, the core support should be easily repaired as well. Park in front of a large tree or a fixed steel column and use a com-a-long to pull the kink out of it. Hood needs to come off, remove the GMC letters, and stand it up on the nose where you can knock that kink back out. Use a body hammer and a piece of 3/8 plate to knock the radius back inline. Replacing the hood and core support will cost close to $800 before fitting and paint, a body hammer kit with 3 hammers and 4 dolly's can be had for $30 delivered. https://www.amazon.com/HORUSDY-Piece...NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Everything is just a little off. So maybe I can do as you say but I don't think so. Back seam is up from the cowl. Sides are now much wider than before and not level. The hood top seems bubbled up away from the under bracing. It's not a lot, but fixing the front of the hood still leaves the rest of it tweaked. I do plan on attempting but I hold little hope in success. It was all original. I had everything off the truck, except the hood, last summer. It all went back into position so easy and perfect. Every bolt, and seam lined up perfectly. I fear that's never going to happen again. The truck was pretty original with very minor updates. Paints no so good but I feel like I dropped the Mona Lisa while dusting it.

For the hood, why don't you talk to a Paintless dent repair specialist and see what they can do? That way you'd keep the originality if that's your priority. Find another grill fix the rad support and your done!
