Moving front wheels forwards

I'm putting a new crossmember in the 70 that I am working on and I want to center the wheels in the wheel well. How much should I move it forward? It looks like it need about 1.25" to center it up. Any ideas?

I guess I should have been a little more clear. I'm also installing a Mustang II front clip... so the steering is rack and pinion... so the questions still remains: how far do I move it forward?

I moved mine 1.5" forward and it's pretty close to being centered. However with a whole new front clip, it may be a different story.

plumb bob the centerline of where you want the centerline of your front wheels. that will be the centerline of your mustang II crossmember. you will most likely need new motor mount provisions. good luck!

Yeah, I'd drop a line (with the truck sitting level front-to-back) just to make sure. I just kind of eye-balled mine and 1.5" seemed to work. I'd say you'll be looking at 1.25 to 1.5". The dimension will also depend on your ride height (assuming you are trying to center the wheel at ride height).
