70 CST BB Survivor for sale in Sioux Falls, SD.

Thought you guys might enjoy this.

It's a black 1970 CST, BB, low mileage survivor for sale in Sioux Falls, SD.

I've never been a super big fan of black trucks but this one is stunning.

Yes, a great truck but wonder why in lieu of the other options on the truck when ordered they didn't opt for the full gauge package which was probably a 25.00 option lack then.

I wonder if someone thought the gauges came in the CST package?

Re: 70 CST BB Survivor for sale in Sioux Falls, SD.

Just a data point if anybody is interested - I bought my 97 K1500 from this same company (Frankman Motors in SD) several years ago. I was STUNNED at the great service and communications - they really went out of their way to be helpful and responsive (and arranged shipping). Really impressed with a dealership, for a change - it was a pleasant surprise.

Re: 70 CST BB Survivor for sale in Sioux Falls, SD.

This '70 reminds me of the '69 a while back. Same incorrect for year side driver side mirror, and this '70 has no mirror on passenger side, which would indicate body work and or complete re spray. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...+silver+wheels

The spid is kinda hard to make out but it looks like it says it was originally equipped with west coast JR’s. Definitely some fishy things in the mirror dept. I’d bet the engine has been repainted at a minimum. Also the trim on the driver side is pretty wonky but I guess that could be 50+ years of life. Pretty nice truck over all though.

I’d be curious to see what it looks like underneath.

Nothing wrong with upgrades or refurbishing, but be prepared for incoming if the statement "all original from new" pops up in your selling campaign.

It dosn't appear to have been equipped with Power Brakes from the factory either. That automatic and big block combo, must have been pretty tough bring to a stop!

The claim "all original from new" is suspect. It is a great selling point if it was indeed true, but buyer beware.

I don't infer that as never restored, I read that as "as equipped when new" such as color, equipment, options, etc. There should be no "buyer beware" alert beyond any other vehicle this age.

All in all... very nice ruck. Considering everything $40,000 is not a bad price IMHO.

Re: 70 CST BB Survivor for sale in Sioux Falls, SD.

what, who, hey! I only commented on the dealership
NOW that I've looked at the pics.. I do think it's a nice truck.
I agree it's very likely had a repaint - which would kinda disqualify it as a survivor - but seller didn't use that phrase. Seller said "all original from new" - which to me would also mean NO repaint. So, boo there, but still, it's clearly a nice repaint - but I wish they'd kept the original w/c mirrors on it.

Ken I think the VIN rivets look original(??) A little hard to tell though - I definitely see rosettes on the outer edge, but they look very worn (or round) on the inside edge of the plate.

SPID does look fresh, but I don't see any errors - and the fact that the seller didn't "add" things that are clearly not original to the the truck (like the power brakes or PO1 wheel covers, etc) tell me it's either a faithful repro of the original content, or possibly the actual original. Agree, sure does look fresh though. I'm just not sure to be honest.

Brake booster clearly aftermarket, and the PO1s and mirrors aren't original - those are the big things that jump out at me - all of which can be undone (or kept) except the mirrors.

At this price point, one expects near perfection (myself included) - and perfection is hard to find. But it's sure a nice truck - even with a repaint and the wrong mirrors. And RED bow tie PO1s... (EGAD!!)

If it's as original as described, it should have a build sheet stuffed somewhere, which would be nice to see.

"original aluminum radiator"

Originals were copper and brass.

Re: 70 CST BB Survivor for sale in Sioux Falls, SD.

I guess I'm the one who tagged it as a "Survivor" In the strictest sense of the word, it doesn't meet the survivor definition.

My truck, a ND farm truck with similar mileage could use a respray due to some surface rust. I think the truck in question has had a decent quality paint job. It's hard to tell any more without seeing it in the flesh.

Re: 70 CST BB Survivor for sale in Sioux Falls, SD.

I think 'survivor' is applicable for this truck as It doesn't have anything as far as I can tell but trivial modifications. It's 'original except' and I suspect it may hold some secrets.

I agree, survivor means it survived, any vehicle around 50+ years can be labeled a survivor. The word original from new means original from new, not restored. Very few vehicles have very good to excellent original factory applied paint. Joes Junk collection is an exception to the rule, they are great examples of " original from new". This black '70 C 10 is a dead ringer to the black '69 C 20 in earlier link, they are both very very nice condition trucks, but have been refurbished.
