Door Pressure Relief Valve Retrofit - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Have any of you retrofitted one of these pressure relief valves into the door jamb of an older truck? How did it work out? If my fresh air vent isn't open, it's difficult to close the doors, and I like to keep the vents closed when running A/C.

I added one on my 69 when I put the a/c in. Worked out fine.

I really can't remember. Didn't have any problem with the doors closing both before and after the installation. I'd say go for it. Can't see any negatives

That's not Standard for MY '68 AFAIK.
I know 919 doesn't need it, but then there's no door rubber at all.
Doesn't last in this heat.
Aren't those for letting off vapors from an in-cab fuel tank?

Yep. Definitely not standard, but it might be nice.

I have the same problem with my doors. I can feel the blast of air come out when closing from the pressure caused from closing the door. If I crack the window or vent window. Doors shut awesome. I have also been thinking of doing this. Or putting them in the back of the cab between the cab and bed as they are installed on newer trucks

I may have an unconventional way of thinking about this. I would rather cut a strip of the rubber off of the pivoting kick panel vent door than have another piece of plastic in the truck. I like as little plastic as possible. Either way the point is to create an air leak.

I agree with you about the plastic. I'm also hesitant to cut a gaping hole in my cab. I've just been leaving my fresh air vent slightly open. It does feel like it affects the function of the A/C doing that though.

Either method is an air leak and my thought is either method should affect the a/c the same.

The door vent has rubber flaps that act like check valves to let air out more easily than in.

I ordered this from Summit to take a look at it. Unfortunately, it is purely a vent, and not a check valve like the stock plastic unit.

I think most repos have no baffling vents behind it. You have to find ones that specifically say it is there. These state in the add that it is complete as factory. https://www.ebay.com/itm/35245827284...Bk9SR5yoiNTAYg
