Finally selected... CB, Amp, and Antenna
After going back and forth on what CB set up I wanted in my 70C10... I have finally got my set up selected. I have selected the Kris XL-50, Gray 150 amp, and the Hustler "Super Husky" antenna. These are all mid 70’s era as I wanted a 40 Chanell radio... in the early 70's only 23 channels were available. The Gray amp just screams old school.
The radio is installed and soon I will mount the mirror mount antenna. The amp... I don’t have the proper meters to set this up so hopefully soon.

Re: Finally selected... CB, Amp, and Antenna
Nice looking CB.
Daddy always had one in his truck. He also had an antenna on each mirror.

Re: Finally selected... CB, Amp, and Antenna
Wow, Brings back memories. In the heart of the CB craze in the mid 70's I work in a stereo/CB shop. Installed many radios in my 2 1/2 years of working there

Re: Finally selected... CB, Amp, and Antenna
Memories indeed brought back, big time. I was pretty well into the CB craze in mid 60's (yep, I'm an old feller, LOL) being in high school at the time. Graduated in '67 and as a graduation present my Uncle Sam gave me a world tour, all expenses paid. Europe as in Germany for 14 months, and then on to sunny SE Asia aka Vietnam for 12 months. Came home in April '70 and bought a '69 Mustang Mach 1. Back into the CB game and became "Ironhorse Mobile" for my handle. Thus my user ID here as in " Ironhorse" . No longer have the Mach 1, wasn't smart enough to keep it. Have not done the Cb bit for a good many years but this thread sure brings back the memories.
Hammer down Rubber Duck, I got your back door. I'm clear and 10-10 on the side.

Re: Finally selected... CB, Amp, and Antenna
Great post 70cst, CB radios need to be in these old trucks. You can get very affordable SWR meters off of Amazon, or if you are looking for the original NOS or used SWR meters you can look on eBay. I have a Pace CB144 23 channel radio and was able to find the Pace SWR meter to tune the antenna with. I got into CB radios back in the 70s when you had to get a FCC license...KBEJ5722 was what I was assigned. Now I have a ham ticket and I will also put a quad band radio in the truck (but out of sight).

Re: Finally selected... CB, Amp, and Antenna
Nice choice. I was born in '81 so CBs weren't a thing in vehicles. But my dad did have one in his '80 Buick Regal. I've been a trucker for about 22 years so I'm use to having one. I've been wanting to ad one to my '72 C10. I think this post just motivated me more to do so. Keep us posted about the install with pictures. I wanna see.

Re: Finally selected... CB, Amp, and Antenna
I still have a ball mount and spring on my Drivers Side step fender of the '68 C/10 Stepside. If the coax still rings out, the connector is in the cab, under the matt. The remote speaker [a Motorola] is still in the ceiling, above the rearview mirror mount. Mic clip is still above the Cigar Lighter outlet.
I just need to sort out a working rig with a bracket and mount it under the Heater controls. I have a Hustler mast, I can screw a stubby in, and it comes about to whip height.

Re: Finally selected... CB, Amp, and Antenna
My rig and current antenna. I also have a hump mount where I put one of my SSB rigs but I don't leave those in the truck. There's a outdoor horn speaker mounted on the core support.

Re: Finally selected... CB, Amp, and Antenna
I have an old GE external speaker I am thinking of using in my truck. I replaced the speaker and rewired it. The case is metal, and must weigh 2 lbs.

Re: Finally selected... CB, Amp, and Antenna
Nice squawk box. Looks overbuilt. And perfectly Period Correct. Might be a tad heavy to mount overhead. Wouldn't want it to break loose on a backcountry ''road'' and smack you in the face. Maybe on the dash top? Or the Tranny hump if it's high...

I was thinking maybe under dash? Haven't figured that out yet.
