Looking for GMC SM420 part
Looking for front bearing/input shaft retainer/cover part #2454786.
This was only used with the GMC V6 engines and maybe only 4X4's. |

Re: Looking for GMC SM420 part
Have you contacted Novac Adapters? They may know all the applications and if there is a cross. They've always been great help to me with SM420's. I have some 420s but no GMCs that I am aware of.

Re: Looking for GMC SM420 part
Thanks for the interest. Yes I did contact Novac thinking they may be able to take their regular billet retainer and lenghten it 1 1/8", They were very nice but said their shop was so far behind on production parts they couldn't work it in. I have have a great local machine shop that I use and they're going to make one for me. Thanks MJN but the regular one you have won't work with a GMC V6.

Re: Looking for GMC SM420 part
MJN could you get the part number cast on the front bearing retainer? I don't have the numbers in front of me but the KM trucks start with a 2 and all others with a 3. Mine has the correct number but has saw marks where it was cut down when the truck was swapped to a SBC. Yours appears to look like the more common Chev version. You wouldn't happen to have the V6 engine stands from that truck would you?

Re: Looking for GMC SM420 part
Mine starts with 37xxxxx, the rest is hard to read, it did come from a 67 GMC K2500 with divorced T221. The truck is long gone and I don't have any other parts from it except the trans, bellhousing and clutch fork.
Yours looks like it came out of medium duty truck according to the parts book on gmpartswiki; http://www.gmpartswiki.com/getpage?pageid=222347 heres one of yours on ebay; https://www.ebay.com/itm/133420697568
