one piece power windows (pics)

ive seen a few people ask about them and i finally got mine done tonight, its the brothers kit with a1 electric regulators. I still have some small adjustments to make but pretty simple kit once you dive in. some of the parts had to be modified to fit but ive come to expect that from the aftermarket. The glass is covered in grease right now, before you try this kit grow an extra hand.:p

Wow, That looks great!! How does the window feel half way down? I have heard horrer stories that it is sloppy feeling and people are afraid that they will loose it driving down the road. From what I hear, either you have it all the way up, or all the way down. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

done? you mean they get finished? well ill be a.................... kd, i hope to have it on the road this summer, i dont think they ever get finished though. The window is real sloppy towards the top, in the position of the second pic its ok, if you want to crack the window a few inches it seems like it wants to fall out. Im going to mess with it and see what can be done.

Lost wages,
I have that same kit but I'm having all kinds of problems with the hinges on the door because of it. I had to grind the top hinge part that goes in the door to get it to clear the new window channel. Of course this meant taking off the door. Now I can't get the door to "hang right" and spent all yesterday cussing at the door. I have only got one side done because of this. Any suggestions for doing this grinding w/o removing door. And any help on hanging the door?? Thanks in advance. BTW I love your truck and the windows really set it off.

i had to take the doors off also, just waiting for someone (1971stepside) to get his butt over here. As far as hanging the door, its kind of a hit and miss kinda thing, just get help and keep at it.

Mine tend to move a decent amount (maybe an inch total of in and out play) when the window is rolled up about 3/4. Alot of my play can be fixed by properly seating the window in the channel on the regulator (I didn't take the time during install to fix it right) and I also plan to modify some glass guides to help eliminate any excess play. It's not a perfect kit by any means but it's worth it to get rid of the wing windows in my opinion.

Too Bad about the sloppy window! Sounds like Brothers needs a better engineer!

What a battle it would be to put in a Chopped roof truck!
Any one?

Oh *&$%#^*! (shoot)

Ed, once again I totally forgot about you. Check is in the mail as of today. I probably forgot all about paying you for those because I haven't even installed them yet. They are tucked away and forgot about. Ed, I am so sorry, money is on the way. Thanks for the reminder.

Man I feel like a total idiot!!!

67chevemall, the slop really isn't as bad as it may sound. The windows roll up and down fine (power window regulators) and they seat in the channel where they are supposed to. It's just a lot of glass without alot of support when it gets to a certain point in the travel. Overall, I'm happy with mine and will do this install again on another 67-72 truck.

IF YOUR TSALKING ABOUT DOOR HOOK THAT HOLDS DOOR FROM OPENING TOO WIDE WHICH HAS TO BE CUT WITH THIS KIT THE BAR HAS A PIN ON CAB SIDE THAT I USED CENTER PUNCH TO REMOVE AND REMOVED IT WITHOUT REMOVING DOOR JUST MAKE SURE YOU CATCH PADS THAT SQUEEZE LATCH THEY FLOAT AND WHEN LATCH REMOVED CAN FALLOUT AND WITHOUT THEM YOUR SCREWED.HOPE THIS HELPS IF IM ON THE SAME PART BY THE WAY MINE WAS ON 67 WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE SAME FOR 7-72

PONT no problem like I said if they solve the problem pay me if not don't worry about it. I have found they solve the glass hitting the hinge stop problem along with grinding the upper door stop nose a little bit and just wanted your opinion. Also on the last 5 sets we installed we put a 8" long 1/4" aluminum rod welded to the supplied aluminum spacer plate for the glass sill and bent it so it rides in the rear weatherstrip channel, it looks like an upside down question mark, combined with the glass setting tape and correctly set glass there is about 3/8" in and out movement of the glass all thru the roll up and down.

Thanks Ed but I really do feel like a horses a$$ for that slipping my mind. I've moved twice since you sent me those so I boxed them up, set them aside and haven't got around to installing them yet so I can't say whether or not they will help. I ground on the door stops when I first did the install and they clear the channel fine if I give them a little nudge with my finger while closing the door. Looking at how those hinge friction pads work, I'm sure it will cure that problem. I also have another set of upper hinges just in case my originals are too far gone to make a difference with the new pads.

Your 8" long 1/4" aluminum rods sounds very interesting. Have ya got any pics to better show how it's installed? It sounds like your onto something to fix 99% of any in and out movement on the glass.

Also, when I bought the kit from you, the way the felt runners were made was slightly out of spec. The outer window rubber runners had that slight bend or jog in the wrong location. I micky moused it to work but never has been correct. Does Brothers offer those pieces available seperately from the rest of their kit? I would like to see about replacing them. And, as stated in my post yesterday, you should be seeing your money for those pads in a few days. Whether they work or not, you should be compensated for them. I sure you didn't get them for free so neither should I.

Thanks again Ed, I have some upcoming projects so I will be ordering some more parts from you soon. Your a great vendor.

Rob
