I wish.
The water is showing up on the carpet along the LH sill. There's no holes in the floor and there's no damp underneath the HVAC box. There's no damp underneath the air vents in the back of the cab either but I replaced them. The seals were looking a little rough but there weren't any leaks.

There's been so much rain this summer it smells like a swamp. It feels like Hotlanta in March to early April.
Usually by this time of year it's hot but dry with high fire hazard and the rain is lower until early Sept. My pond that drops to almost nothing by late July is still full.

The '06 Silverado K2500HD that I gave my Dad some years ago, ended up back to me when he passed away back in February. It had been sitting for quite some time while he was fighting cancer. So it has a few things wrong, that need to be addressed.
The drivers side extended cab rear door latch is broke, and needs to be replaced. I also have to replace the vapor canister purge valve and/or the fuel tank pressure sensor, so the check engine light will go away (code P0446) hoping to get this done in the next week. Gary

Today I crimped a fresh Ring Terminal on the end of a ground strap going from the Firewall to the Hood of my '03 Tahoe. According to a schematic, this ground is the Radio Ground Plane, so my FM reception should improve.
Since it was adjacent, I also inspected and cleaned up [w/ a wire brush] the ground srtap end from the Block to the Firewall. It wasn't bad but it's good to keep up. Thursday I was going to help a friend troubleshoot the dead headlights on his '16 Subaru Forester. But I couldn't find the special Fuse Pliers I ordered off Amazon. So we cracked the beers early. I looked again today, but I had put them somewhere ''safe''. [From me.]

While rotating that tire to the rear, and getting an alignment at another shop would have been the No or Low Buck solution, I remembered I have a set of Cooper 235/75/R16 tires just sitting in the sunshine and gathering spiderwebs. A couple of years ago, when gas was up to $5 a gallon, I decided to remove the 33x12.50x15 Falken meats from the GMC Jimmy, my only runner at the time. An old friend had taken off a set of aluminum rims from his new-to-him '99 Suburban. He thought they were too ''bling-ey''. He gave them to me. I got 2 pair of 2'' aluminum spacers and had them mounted on the Jimmy. They ran fine. My speedo was true, according to the GPS, They handled very well in city traffic. But one rainy day I was on the freeway to see an old college buddy, some 60 miles way, and weird vibrations at speed scared me. I got towed home. First I pulled the aluminum rims and put the old 33x12.50x15s back on. Bad vibes continued. I put the GMC up on jackstands, and rotated the propshafts. My Transfer Case had accidently slipped into 4 HI. I put it in 2 WD and it was better. But a U-Joint was AFU. When I was under to R&R it, I saw the Carden/Lloyd constant speed assembly on the Front Prop Shaft was FUBAR. So my 4WD Jimmy is currently a 2WD. A new Front Prop Shaft runs $500. I ogled the Front Prop Shaft still on my dormant '67 K/10 Suburban, looks near identical, but if I extract any more parts from old White Fang, she'll never rise again. The result was I parked 4 good, expensive tires behind the Suburban for a couple years. Tonight, I loaded them on the back of the '68 C/10 Stepside. Tomorrow, I'll drop them off at Discount Tires and they can mount them on the 'Hoe. The rims should fit fine, since a '99 Suburban is the same platform as the 2003 Tahoe. I measured the current tires on the 'Hoe: they were 29.5'' high. They are 265/70/R17s. The diameter on the Cooper 235/75/R16s is about 29'' but it's hard to read when not mounted on a vehicle. [Coincidentally, the height of the 33x12.50x15s is also 29-1/2''.] If the diameter is radically different, will I have to get anything reprogrammed?

I took my 2003 Tahoe to the shop [Brake Masters] today for an alignment. Cost $100, but it shouldn't wobble at freeway speed now.
My attempt at putting four 235/75/R16s on this truck was a bust. Discount Tires refused to swap them out with four 265/70/R17s. They said the Drivers Front was irregularly worn from bad alignment, and strongly hinted I should buy a new one. They rated that one at ''4'' [out of 10, I guess] and the other three at ''6''. The 235/75/R16s were mounted on some aluminum rims a friend kicked off of his '99 GMC K/15 Suburban [before the Yukon XL name change]. I had them on my '71 GMC Jimmy with 2'' adapters. When I heard irregular noises I took them off and went back to 33x12.50xR15 tires. But they are 2022 Cooper tires with very little wear. I figured a 2003 C/15 Tahoe was about the same platform as the '99 Sub. The tire expert at Discount said the set-back was different on the rims, and also the 235/75/R16 tires were rated at 1008, but the 265/70/R17s were rated at 1111. [What ever that was.] I still think they were trying to upsell me another tire. The guy at Brake Masters said to go to another tire shop he recommended and they would probably put the Coopers on my Tahoe, since I'm not likely to be zooming around above 100 MPH, ever. In the meantime, they put the ''4'' tire over on the Passenger side, so it'll even out the wear.

I finally got around to buffing and waxing my 99. I still need to paint the roof and hood. 4.3 V-6, 5-speed, 177k miles, spindles, hangers and shackles, 05 GMC wheels.

Got thrown a curveball this past weekend, as the ol' Silverado started making a wicked knocking/clacking sound from behind the engine. Sure as heck... cracked flex plate. So need to slide the transmission/transfer case back to get to it. Going to replace the rear main seal while I'm in there. Good times... LOL

Today I got 4 Cooper tires mounted on my '03 C/1500 Tahoe. They are 235/75/R16s on aluminum rims. The rims came off a Pal's '99 K/1500 GMC Suburban [just before the Yukon XL model name BS]. He didn't like them, [''Too Blingy''] and was gonna recycle them for the aluminum. I said I'd give him $20 each for them. He's been my friend for 30 years, so he just gave them to me.
I got 2'' wheel spacers to make them fit my '71 GMC Jimmy K/1500 and mounted the above 16'' tires on the old truck. They worked fine. Good handling. The speedo was even accurate for once -- as checked by GPS. But I heard a noise and got paranoid that the spacers were coming loose. So I put the 33x12.50x15 offroad tires back on. The noise turned out to be the front Prop Shaft eating itself up. I took that off so my K/1500 is a 2WD anyway. The 2003 Tahoe had a bad shimmy above 60 MPH. It had not been aligned for years by the women POs. I had it aligned. Better, but still funky over 70. The Front Right tire [265/70/R17] was cupped and shot. The other three were at about 60%. Discount Tire, where I got the 16'' Coopers, [back in 2022 when gas shot up to $5/Gallon] refused to mount the 2 y o tires on the '03. They cited load range issues, but I think they just wanted to sell me $200 worth of new rubber. Today Western Tire mounted them for free, but with a $25 wheel balance charge. Cost another $40 for lug nuts. Still need 4 more. But being back on good tires feels good. My speedo now reads 40 MPH while the GPS clocks 37. I may have to get the ECM reprogrammed for the new size.

Today, I put a Quick Disconnect terminal on the negative battery pole. I had been using new terminal bolts and a 5/16'' speed wrench. Last week I overtorqued it in the dark. Surprisingly the threads on the Bolt were stripped or galded, but not the threads on the battery.
I couldn't find a Side Terminal-specific QD unit at my local FLAPS, so I cobbled one together for the Top Post type. A Top Post terminal went in the Negative Terminal bolt hole. A short end [~6''] of an old Side terminal negative connector was joined to the OEM Neg Connector end with some star washers and a nut and bolt, then taped over with 3M electric tape. The end of the cable was stripped back 3/4'' so the knob connector assembly could be attached. This way I didn't have to cut the OEM Negative Connector. It's completely reversible. I disconnect the battery every night because there's a hidden drain on the 2003 Tahoe's electrical system. Leaving it on will flatten the battery.
