PO welded brackets in front wheel wells. Why?
The previous owner welded a bracket, driver's and passenger side. Before I cut them off, am I right that they serve no purpose? It almost looks like they were intended to be a support for the inner wheel well. They are 1/4 inch from touching the wheel well. What could they have been for?

These are the kinds of things I wish for a time machine. Go back and watch the thought process that lead to this. Some would be good to know, others probably very entertaining.

That would be a heavy-duty bracket if its only purpose was to support the inner fender.
I would say cut it off.

Looks like a home made upper mount for some extended travel shocks. "Not that there's anything wrong with that" LOL

Exactly what my thoughts are. Extra shock mounts, after all… back in the 80’s it was cool to have at least 4 shocks on each corner

Hey! I remember the 80's! My K10 was double shocks all the way around....

Yep them were the days. The blazer frame that my 57 sits on had dual front shocks from the factory.

Re: PO welded brackets in front wheel wells. Why?
I'll go with the others on a home brewed upper shock mount

Re: PO welded brackets in front wheel wells. Why?
More than twice as thick as the frame and only attached at the bottom?
Can't see that as a shock mount.

Re: PO welded brackets in front wheel wells. Why?
Exactly… clearly you’ve never met bubba or his welding machine!
