Let’s talk Front End Rebuild
Hi all, my 1969 c10 is badly in need of a front suspension rebuild.
I was planning on replacing the following parts using either Moog or Mevotech replacement parts from RockAuto (for years I used Moog in all my cars but since switched over to Mevotech and have been pleased with the quality/value). I was hoping to check with you guys about what the go-to brand you guys are using here and if I should make consideration for any other options before placing the order. Parts list: - upper/lower ball joints - idler arm - Pittman arm - sway bar bushings - control arm shaft kit - inner/outer tie rods and sleeve Questions: 1.) do these front control arms have bushings? I don’t see anything listed on RockAuto other than the shaft kit 2.) is there a steering damper in these trucks? 3.) other than what’s shown above, is there anything else I should look at to reduce the steering slop/play Also, can anyone link me to shorter front/rear bump stops? I will be doing a 2/4 or 3/5 drop eventually. Big thank you!

Couldn't tell you about the lower control arms, but uppers have bushings.
Stock 2wd does not use a steering damper. Check steering gear box play. There's an adjustment for it. You will need some sort of shock absorber mount relocation scheme. If you have a trailing arm suspension it would be easier to buy an adjustable Panhard bar unless you can do some fabrication. The rear axle will shift to one side when you lower it.

I watched this one, IIRC this shows the whole deal including control-arm shaft bushings

Some come with bushings, some don't

The control arm shaft kit comes with everything you need. No bushings till 1973. They have what amounts to a threaded nut. It threads into the control arm and the cross shaft at the same time. The grease zerk on the end of the nut lubricates the threads. |

Redid the front end completely on my 72 C10. Used all Moog, every box said made in the USA, front end parts and added a Borgeson Steering box and Power Steerng pump. No front end slop now as steers like a modern vehicles. Also have 1 1/4 inch front sway bar from a square body 1 ton truck.
