Talking Hey CPNE, it is heading your way

Jeff,

You better warm up your plow as the snow is headed your way.

We got 7-8" today with more to come.

Thanks Jim. Going to take a lot of warming up too. Supposed to be in the -30F to - 40F degree range overnight the next several days.

You plow truck makes mine look pretty shabby. My only consolation is mine is a GMC and a 3/4 ton

Jeff,

I wanted to buy a 4x4 and my justification was that I needed a plow. The 3/4 tons certainly will take more abuse and I if I had a lot to plow, the 3/4 ton would be my choice.

I hope you mean wind chills down to -30 to -40.
The coldest I've ever seen this far south is -34F.

-30 to -40 wind chill only effects your skin and you.

When it gets in the -40 and below range you shouldn't go outside alone. And your radiator would be a block of ice.

I think it is kind of funny to see the east coast get our weather. Those colder temps usually hit us this time of year.

Like Chevelle454 said, we could use a little snow around here. You can keep the cold however.

Nope, I mean air temps. It only got to -31 here last night, and they are predicting close to -40 tonight. I've already had -35 below last week.

Common misconception. Where I live (nowhere near the coast) it routinely get into the -20's year after year. 90 miles south of here if it gets into the -10's it's "cold". Boston, well anything below zero in Mass is cold.

There is a wide temperature varient here in the Northeast (NH, ME, VT, MA, CT , RI) sorry NY, PA and DC ain't the northeast. You can travel 50 miles and have temps vary by 20 degrees.

I didn't know it got that cold that far south. Another common misconception is where NH and ME are on the map. The very northern part of NH is about even with St. Paul/Minneapolis.

If they are talking -40 I hope your Prestone is up to snuff. When I worked at the shop I was always amazed this time of year at all the folks who froze their coolant systems. The thought never occurred to them that they had to worry about the water in their radiators freezing.

I worked with a guy who lived in Fairbanks. I asked how the heck did you start your car on those -50 days. He said they never shut it off.

Sports trivia: Name the two northen most cities to ever host a World Series game.

I can't answer your trivia question but I can give you some meteorlogical facts.

This will be record cold even for here. What makes it more interesting is the fact that the storm Jim refered too is going to be a Southern New England (CT) storm, leaving a void in northern New England for this air to get sucked into. Normally when it gets frigid, it is under clear skys and no wind. This will not be the case tonight because of this southern storm.

FYI, Mt Washington, home of the worlds "worst weather" is 30 miles from me. They were -100 with the wind chill.

Also, we were colder than Barlow AK this AM. Barlow is in the artic circle and has no daylight at all this time of year!

Had -30 this morning. I don't care if the storm of the century is coming our way. When it's that cold out, it's pretty much impossible for it to snow more than a dusting. Don't quiz me on why, it's just the way it is.

I think that CPNE could use some Global warming!

It makes me cold just thinking about it. It rarely goes into the negative temperatures along Lake Michigan. Generally 10 degrees F is a normal low.

The heating bill in Jeff's area must be outragious.

I saw 70+ weather on TV yesterday :p

Just went out for lunch here today; at 11:00 it had warmed up to a downright balmy -22F.

It's pretty damn cold in CT too. I just got back from school and stopped to put gas in the car. It felt like my hands were on fire after about a minute in the open air. It's definately below 0 at this point and I know that it gets bad in NH.
CPNE, ever experianced the crazy weather on MT. Washington?
I was up their a couple of years ago and camped out over night at the base. The next morning, and this was the first week of June, it was 76 degrees at the base. When we got to the top it was 32 degrees and we got caught in an ice storm with almost 80 mile an hour winds. I've done Washington several times and that is the craziest s#!t I have ever seen weather wise.
