Re: classic cars coming under fire
I saw something this week about Cali making another move toward banning ALL ice in the state before long. I just don't see how they can do it. Gruesome won't be there forever.

Re: classic cars coming under fire
The classic car issue is a Proposal, nothing else.
As proposed it is not a ban but possibly could restrict the areas and hours of usage. Cali isn't banning ICE cars. May make it so only new EV's can be sold, but didn't outlaw bringing cars from other states. Did anyone read the actual information? |

Re: classic cars coming under fire
Isn't the date when new EV only can be sold in California 2035? This has been proposed before, but didn't get far. The California Air Resources Board only mentioned restricting charcoal starter fluid and the fecal missiles hit the rotating blades over that. I have propane or pellets grilling or smoking, so don't need fire starter. But millions of people use it.

Re: classic cars coming under fire
This!!!! I know there are certain natural features that contribute to CA’s air quality issues but the CA gubment has way way to much authority in people’s lives. What a mess.

I have my 78 c10 and 67 c10 insured for 6k or less a year. Keeps me in sync with emissions.

Re: classic cars coming under fire
How does insured value or value in general impact emissions?

Re: classic cars coming under fire
My registration was due in November on one of my 95 Z/28s. I let it expire, because after January 1st both of them will be registered as classic cars, along with my Blazer. It costs $20 per year for renewal and no emissions tests are required.

Re: classic cars coming under fire
Maybe there is hope for Ca in 2025+. Find myself optimistic about what the new year will bring with the change in our nations leadership. Electric has failed just as did several times in the past. Not feasible. Have faith that reality will triumph. Triumph kind of reminds me of someone.

Re: classic cars coming under fire
“According to the California Air Resources Board (CARB), California is banning the sale of gas-powered lawnmowers by 2024 because operating a commercial one for an hour “emits as much smog-forming pollution as driving the best-selling 2016 passenger car, a Toyota Camry, about 300 miles – approximately the distance from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.”* Furthermore, CARB concluded that one hour of using a commercial leaf blower is equivalent to driving 1100 miles from LA to Denver!”
Can someone smarter than me fact check this? Could this actually be true? If this is true im practically driving from la to Denver every day during the summer months. Luckily commercial equipment is still available, just consumer grade stuff that wont be sold new anymore.

Re: classic cars coming under fire
CARB approves updated regulations requiring most new small off-road engines be zero emission by 2024
Equipment includes leaf blowers, lawn mowers; $30 million in incentive funds available to help small businesses acquire zero-emission models The amended regulation will set SORE emission standards to zero in two phases: First, for model year (MY) 2024 and all subsequent model years, emission standards will be zero. These emission standards of zero will apply to engines used in all equipment types produced for sale in California, except generators and large pressure washers. Emission standards for generators and large pressure washers will be more stringent than the existing standards by 40-90 percent starting in MY 2024, but not zero. The second phase will be implemented starting in MY 2028, when the emission standards for generators and large pressure washers will be zero. for anyone doubting the effects of these laws, they are real and in effect. I won't bore anyone with the details but I am intimately aware of CARB regs and subscribed to several mailing lists for those directly affecting our fleet such as CTC Clean Truck Program, HDIM Heavy Duty Inspection and Maintenance in the ACF Advanced Clean Fleets act back to the residential regs, also largely in effect. change the zip code to one in ca for website of your choice and see thousands of machines banned to consumers in ca already with more stages of regulation on the way.

Cars and Light-Trucks are Going Zero - Frequently Asked Questions
As part of the Advanced Clean Cars II regulations, all new passenger cars, trucks, and SUVs sold in California will be zero-emission vehicles by 2035. "politicians" In California Want To Regulate Classic Cars New Legislation Passed In response to critics, a member of Governor Newsom’s social media “rapid response team” shared a column simply stating that lowriding is currently legal. However, Newsom did not deny the authenticity of the letter and told the Sacramento Bee in 2022 that CARB’S latest draft plan “doesn’t go far enough.” Earlier this month, the California Air Resources Board voted 12-2 to increase regulations, following seven hours of comments from more than 100 people. Board members of CARB are not voted into position by citizens but are appointed by Newsom. The Daily Chela has obtained a copy of one letter, originally posted in a forum at Grassroots Motorsports, that appears to show Governor Newsom’s name in the upper corner. Let's Play: What is CA up to now? - Just got an old car survey from CARB

Also, I don't understand the part of "lowriding" still being legal. Is that some sort of singling out? I don't see it as racial, I see lots of different people with lowriding vehicles. On further consideration, I suspect that I didn't get a survey because my truck is a 3/4T. Maybe?
