Axle shaft replacement
Finally installed a posi in my 72 C10 . The only issue is that both axle shafts are worn out at the seal . Where is the best source for replacements ?

Re: Axle shaft replacement
An axle repair bearing exists that has seals as part of the bearing. (It is grease-lubed for life) The bearing doesn't rely on differential oil for lubrication.
I have used them, but they seem to have China tolerances. One was .008 larger on the OD than the ID of the axle tube. When forced into the hole, the axle bearing ID was reduced so much that the axle no longer fit. I am unsure if my experience is the same as others. I would consider using them but only if I had the tools to measure the bearing and housing accuracy. Maybe others have sources for replacement axles. Remember no all 67-72 axles are the same length and get measurements from your old ones. |

Re: Axle shaft replacement
I have used Moser axles over years and they have worked well for me.

Re: Axle shaft replacement
Classic Industries sells Motive Gear branded axles for that truck.

I think you can still get repair sleeves for this. SKF used to have one they called speedi sleeve. It renewed the seal area on the axle. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw...fc6d4f0271ecb1
