Suspension Question
I'm putting 71 spindles on my 70 1/2 ton. I have called Classic Performance to order a pair of their custom tie rod adjusting sleeves. What I've been told is you use 71 outer tie rods and 70 inner tie rods with this custom tie rod adjusting sleeve.
My question is they told me when I called them that there are 2 different lengths of sleeves. Which one do I need? Thanks |

I went this exact route on my '70 but they never told me about 2 different sizes. The original outer tie rod becomes the new inner rod then get 71-2 outers. When I get home tonight I will measure the CP adjusting sleeve and let you know the lenght.

Thanks alot for helping me out on this. I measured the stock sleeves last night and they were +/- 6 1/4". I'll have them send the 5" sleeves. Were there any problems with the changeover or is it relatively easy?

Dont Know how far along you are but its not to hard. You will need a ball joint seperator and a 3lb hammer to get some of the old stuff off. Alot of beating and all of a sudden things pop off. Get '72 calipers for 1.25" rotors. You also need 71-72 master cylinder/booster and think about new brake lines cause the old ones dont work.

Oyyyyy.
I was going to do a disc swap on my 70 Burb. I did some reseach and the most cost effective way I found to go was swap the crossmember to a Disc. There was so much miss match with TRE's and ball joints and control arms. I found a doaner that a Buddy was junking and got it all in one shot fer free That included the Disc double reservior and the disc combinations (Prop) valve. Now hold your jock straps... I have been told you can bolt a 1987 front end under your 67. The frame rails are the same width and angle. Only 2 holes have to be drilled. Mounting the newer master takes some doing but it is not hard. Have to make a custom rod from the peddle to the booster and make a bracket for the booster. Front end I got was from a 77 2wd blazer. I measured everything from width to bolt hole location and I got to say if it's not a bolt in deal like I was told here I would be surprised. Hit your local yard and have them cut the frame off flush with the firewall. That will get you everything you need include the Combination valve, hard lines for the front AND sway bar. Most places I checked into this quoted me $125 including the booster and master.
