Headlight and wiper dash hole alignment with gauge bezel

Hey all,

I'm currently working on a project for a custom dash bezel. I have made my bezel mount and headlight/wiper hole locations exactly as the stock bezel I have, however, I've noticed that the headlight and wiper holes in the dash sheet metal are not exactly aligned dead center with the stock bezel in place. The sheet metal holes are slightly further out and maybe a tad higher when looking at them straight-on.

I'm curious if this is common/regular on other trucks, or if mine is slightly askew.

Basically, when making this new bezel I'm trying to determine if there would be a detriment centering them better than my factory appeared to be.

Cheers!

I don't think it would make any difference as long as the screw on chrome bezels didn't hit the outside raised lip. (if you are going to use them)

EDIT: It looks like the screw on bezels might hit the raised areas with the hash marks, below the holes.

Re: Headlight and wiper dash hole alignment with gauge bezel

If I'd only seen this post yesterday! I had the bezel most of the way out of the Burban and I could have gotten a picture of both sides. But all I have at present is how the passenger side lines up. My memory (what's left of it. ) says the drivers side is similar.

As is it clears them by a few mm. That I did account for. Those raised bars get engraved with "lights," and "wipers."

Just trying to make sure they're centered enough to ensure the chrome threaded washer covers the hole in the bezel.

Thanks.

I downloaded your picture and made it a little lighter so I could see the holes better. I don't think you will have any problems with it.....

Re: Headlight and wiper dash hole alignment with gauge bezel

Very interesting work you're doing.

Since you are on the Suburban side of the forum, I'll add that some of our trucks have an additional "rear A/C" knob below the light switch on the left side of the bezel.

Will you be commercializing this design? If so, there is probably a market given the shoddy finishing work on the Taiwanese made repops.

Regards,
Nick

Yep I will be commercializing them soon . I usually keep more up to date on my Instagram @elemental_garage

If I'm being honest I accidentally posted on the Suburban side, but that said I'd love to get my hands on a Suburban dash so I can get a 3d scan of it and make provisions for the additional A/C knob cutout.
