Photo of steering box area needed.
After fire reassembly in progress. I changed over to a hydroboost and making the hose lines. Can someone shoot a picture or two of the steering box area? I can't recall how much room i have. This is my preferred layout. I can't remember if the radiator support or inner fender will interfere and too lazy today to assemble and disassemble

never mind. It inner fender hits. Think I may dill access hole for pressure side. I need the hose on top side of inner fender anyway

I think you will be fine. Here is the setup on my K20. I cut the o ring end off and removed the nut of the pressure line from an ‘09 silverado and added an inverted flare nut and re flared it. (Had a brand new line on the shelf from another project and decided to finally use it) As you can see the routing hugged the box nice but was not happy with the inner fender. I too did this upgrade with no font clip on the truck and just decided to trim the inner as needed when I was putting the rest of it back together.

Yup
I just placed support and inner fender. Easier than posting the question. Needed a 1" hole. Fender has 8 holes I need to fill so what's one more. Surplus gomet finishes fairly well. Angle of steering box and fitting played well relative to fender. It touches but not under stress. I'll relative some when I weld the old holes. |

Classic, Those are stock OEM style lines and only the return is tappable for connection to Hydroboost. The pressure side for the steering box does not go to the pump when using Hydroboost. The pressure line in a Hydroboost set up goes from the pump to the Hydroboost. Then from the Hydoboost to the steering box. 3 Lines needed for hydroboost units. The lines pictured in my 1st post shows the path of the pressure lines. The waist line of the Hydoboost is not yet in place in the photo. The waist/return line goes from the waist port of the hydroboost and tees into the return line of the steering box. The OEM style pressure hose shown in Classic Bowties post is not really usable for hydoboost.
If one were good at bending and flaring, it would be possible to fabricate a 3/8 steel flair line from the steering box pressure port to the steering shaft access area and flair connect to a 6an flex hose to the Hydroboost if one needed to avoid modification to the inner fender. My inner fender is already drilled in other areas and rusted some so it was not an issue in my case. |
