stepside fender gaskets?

are there any gaskets or anything that i put between the bedsides and the stepside fenders? should i make some or do they just bolt directly to the side of the bed without anything? i ask this because the lip is where the stepside fender rusts out

Re: stepside fender gaskets?

They came factory with a strip caulk. 3M makes a black strip caulk that works well.

Good luck, Rg

Re: stepside fender gaskets?

Earlier models - till 59 I think - used welting. I plan to use it on my 70 when I restore it, seems less messy and probably more forgiving for a klutz like me.
