Rebuilding my door hinges
I need to work on my door hinges because their sagging and have play in them, should I replace the pins also or just get a bushing kit for it and be done with it?
My passenger door needs to be aligned correctly anyway so i'm going to be removing and will re-bush it while i'm at it. |

the kit comes with pins and the bushings doesnt it? id say change em both

Yeah, I think you can get a kit with either or both of them. The kit with pins and bushing is only like 1 dollar more so I guess I might as well do them both since it won't take any longer.

I looked at the advance auto website and they have hinge pin kits for less than 5 bucks. Their made by Motormite I think.

sometimes is is easier to just cut the pin in half to get it out. I would get the pins just to be safe.

i just did the pins and bushings in my 79 and found i had to ream the holes in the hinge a little bigger for the new bushings. i guess this is to take up any wear from extremelly worn bushings

Replace both the pins and bushings. I just did the bushings in my driver's side door and there is still some play and the pin keeps popping out. I'll be doing the job again! I think there are some door pins that have an undercut in them to accept an external cir-clip to keep the pin in. Look for these!
