rear cab mount removal

i'm having some difficulty replacing the cab mounts on my 4x4 truck. the fronts were easy. i just lifted the front of the cab like 2 inches with a jack and they slid right out. the rears are giving me troubles. there is a 5inch tube with a washer welded on to the end that is inserted into the rubber mount. i cant lift the rear of the cab up high enough to get the clearance needed to clear the tube. i can can the cab up a few inches before things start to bind. do i have to take the front fenders off so i can lift the cab higher? or use a sawsall and just cut the tube down so i can lift the cab minimally? im sure im over thinking this. what is the best way to get the rear cab mounts off?

Unless the 4x4 cab mounts are different to my standard 2 wheel drive ones then the washer shouldn’t be welded on. I’d get the sawsall onto it and get them out, have you got the replacements yet? They should give you the definitive answer

If you 2wd is a half ton the mounts are different. 4x4 uses the same rear mounts as C20 and C30. I agree with above, loosen the front up and try again jacking the whole side should do it.

thanks for the advice. soon as i get yardwork done ill give it a try. right now i have the fronts with the nuts only one turn on. i was trying to lift from the corners not the side. ill let you know what happens

So If I need a kit for my '72 C30, I should just order a K20 kit?

When I did mine, I did one whole side at a time... tilting the cab either port or starboard. The cabs don't flex enough to lift that rear corner if the front is bolted tight.

One side at a time both mounts, you'll have to loosen the fronts you already installed.
Put a 4x4 block between the jack and cab...worked for me anyway.

Here's how I did it...

i got the mounts off. Thanks for your tips. But like anything else I do with this truck I fix one thing and then something else pops up that needs to be addressed. For Some reason the cab sits on the mounts like its supposed to on the rear cab mounts but the fronts dont. Right now i have the radiator support and the rear cab mounts torqued to spec. There is a spacer worths distance between the top of the rubber mount and the front cab body. I tried to tighten it down and torque it to spec. This removes the gap but then the doors wouldnt open. I tried putting a spacer in there to fill up the gap but same problem. If i tighten the front mount even just a little the doors wont open or close they hit the door latch low. Im not sure if you have to tighten the bolts incrementally so nothing binds or what.
