LS Swap guys…wiring routing question

I’m going to go ahead and move my battery to the rear frame area on my 67 C10. I pretty much know how to run the wires and what sizes the wires need to be. However, I’m struggling to figure out the best place to terminate the hot lead and bus connection to feed the alternator, starter, various relays, and fuse panel.

Obviously I can bring the wire up the frame to the front firewall, install a 2-3 terminal bus there and carry a feed wire to the drivers side to feed my fan relays and fuse panel. I was just wondering if that’s how you guys are doing it. I saw a few YouTube vids where guys were setting their bus connections in the frame near the headers…I don’t think that’s a smart set up.

Any opinions or examples of how guys ran their wires on a relocated battery?

Re: LS Swap guys…wiring routing question

So here's what I did on my 68 C10 LS swap project.
I love to hide wires on my LS swaps.
I used a Howell LS swap harness. It has fan wires/relay built in. Also the fuel pump relay. Also fuses as needed.
I used a Painless universal chassis wiring harness. 21 circuit?
Frame mounted the battery on the right side just behind the cab. Ran the 12 volt pos cable directly to the center post on the starter solenoid. All the 12 volt pos needed for the truck comes off the center post of the starter solenoid.
Neg cable to the engine block. Then neg cable from the engine block to the frame. LS swaps love good grounds.
I mounted the ECM and fuse block in the cab behind the glove box. I had to section the the glove box a bit to make room.
ECM engine wire loom harness runs thru a hole in the fire wall just behind the right cylinder head.
Couple of pics.

Thanks for the reply! I’m using a Speartech harness and a PCM of NC fan relay kit, so both will need a hot hookup. I originally ran a stock 6.0 with the stock harness, and it used the standard GM split cable assembly that ran to the starter and teed off to the alternator. It bolted near the alternator. So I am assuming that is basically the same as running the positive wire from the back to the starter. The few builds I’ve seen normally ran a 2nd wire off the starter to a bus, then used the bus to distribute the power to various accessories.

I also saw one or 2 run the positive to a bus, then feeding the alt/starter/accessories from that bus. I guess it’s all the same for the most part.

Re: LS Swap guys…wiring routing question

I ran a 6-8 gauge pos wire from the solenoid to the back of the alternator.
Didn't use any type of bus bar.
