Front bumper install, what's missing?
1960 C10
I'm trying to get my front and rear bumpers installed after repainting. However I get one step forward and two steps back. On this front bumper I ordered brackets shown in one of the photos. But there's only two brackets and there's no way that will hold the bumper up. You will notice in one of the photos it looks like the front of the frame has been cut un evenly both sides. Is something else supposed to be here to Mount bolts to through the bumper? Obviously the bumper has additional holes for mounting bolts but nothing for it to go into. I have been looking for a close up photo, video, etc without luck. If you have a specific picture / website/diagram for me to study I would appreciate it. What do I need to complete this and where do I get it? Last edited by Leinhit; 03-14-2025 at 10:50 AM. Reason: Spelling |

Re: Front bumper install, what's missing?
You're missing the brackets on the frame, which are actually part of the frame.
The inner four screws go through the bumper and are screwed to the frame. The bracket goes to the outer holes.

Re: Front bumper install, what's missing?
So just the two brackets I need? There's not two more that go on the inside of the bumper as well?
You say they're part of the bumper do you mean someone has to cut them off and if I can find some I'm going to have to weld or bolt them in? Do you know where I can get those? Thank you for the reply.. I wonder why some idiot would have cut those off.. |

Someone cut the last few inches of your original frame off.
You're probably going to have to find a donor frame to cut them off of. To weld back on to yours. Or fabricate your own frame ends to weld on. |

Re: Front bumper install, what's missing?
After getting it close to mock up I think I might try to build my own.
Thinking some 90° plate steel welded to the inside of the frame or on the outside wrapping around the front to the inside. Run some extra long carriage bolts and Mark where the holes and angles need to be and drill them out. Run nuts and washers on the back. Maybe some washers that spacers so I don't over tighten the carriage bolts and warp the bumper. Just thinking out loud to see what others might think... *I am curious what angle the front bumper should sit at to look right. Those frame horns would have set the angle for me. But now I have some say in it. Should the majority of the flat spot on the front of the bumper be vertical? Or angled slightly towards the radiator to conceal that gap between the bumper and the lower radiator? |

Look at it from the side. The sides (curved corners? winglets??) should sit level as viewed from the side.

Re: Front bumper install, what's missing?
Ok thanks!
That will get me close.. I'll start looking to fab something up.. Seems like they cut a cross member out too up front.. I figured for an engine swap.. there wasn't an engine when I got it. |

There are a few guys around that sell used front frame horns. Jaime DelGrecco and Kelly Dugan. They hang out on FB...not sure about on here.

Re: Front bumper install, what's missing?
Okay thank you. I'm starting today trying to fabricate something on my own but if it doesn't go well I would have much prefer just about some used ones and got them welded on. I will see if I can locate them. Thank you for the help
