1979 C10, Smooth Firewall, LS Swap, Fuse Box Location?

I'm helping a friend rebuild his 1979 C 10. It has a 5.3LS and 4L60E. And a brand-new Painless fuse block and wiring harness. He also went with the smoothing kit on the firewall, and the cab has been painted. Now we are wondering where to put the fuse block and LS computer to keep all the wiring out from under the hood. You guys have seen those trucks were you open the hood and you see no wires anywhere, that's what he's shooting for.

I wonder if any of you guys have any ideas on where and how to install this fuse block. Maybe some of you have done this before, or seen it being done. We would love to read about any and all ideas you might have.

If I was successful, some pictures are attached.

Thanks for any ideas you may be willing to share.

Mike

Computer can be mounted under the dash, above the glovebox like the TBI trucks (brackets welded to the sheetmetal under the cowl). That location is serviceable if you remove the glove box. For the fuse panel, under the dash near the factory location but with brackets that weld on to the firewall rather than screws going through the firewall would give you the clean look.

Hey thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, for the LS computer, the location you describe is going to be occupied by the Vintage Air power unit. To the left of that, a custom USB power and switch block; to the left of that, the stereo head unit, and to the left of that the steering column and instrument panel. I'm afraid were going to have to go somewhere farther away. The stock fuse block location might actually be doable. I didn't even think of it. There's going to be a truckload of wires, but I think they can go right down through the floor and under the cab.
