Hitch on K20? LMC or Valley?

Anyone install one of LMC's (Valley) hitches on their truck? Mine is a 71 K20 and I don't see how it will work. It seems to wide unless I do some fabricating. Anyone else been here?

Thanks

Anyone install one of these? LMC says it will fit...typical response. I only bought this one because they said I could still run my spare tire carrier. Lady at LMC barely knew what a hitch was.

I have an email into the manufacturer (Valley) to see.

I have a Valley hitch purchased from NAPA on my 68 C20. I do not have a spare under the truck, so can't verify if it still works. I had to drill some holes because the "helper" springs were in the way. Works fine now though. I've puled a 5000lb trailer with it multiple times.

I have a Drawtite on mine. No troubles with install. Only caveat is that you have to slightly modify the hanger with the nut for the spare. Where it goes through the frame, the head has to be cut off, the bolt bent over with a 180 degree bend on the end, then hung on the side plate of the hitch approximately where it went through the frame.

I found out from Valley that the hitch LMC is selling for our trucks is the wrong one. Another bad experience with LMC. They were zero help "well our catalog says it fits". Now I have to pack this heavy ass thing back up and drag it to UPS.

Valley gave me the correct number and several local places where I can order it from.
