Strange things are happening with my wiper and washer motor. I had to replace both awhile back, and the switch. Everything worked great for awhile.

But now, things have gone awry. Whenever I turn on the wipers, I'm getting water out the lines.

If I understand the operation correctly, when you WANT water and push the switch, the washer pump apparently pumps water into the lines, then some kind of actuator actually pumps the water out for a few seconds, then is supposed to cut off. Problem seems to be that it doesn't cut off any more.

I can hear a difference in the operation based on whether I push the washer button or not, as I hear the pump running. I don't hear the motor noise, just the distinct clicking if I don't push in on the wiper button.

I suspect something is stuck, but that thing is such a pain to get out of there I want to make sure I'm headed down the right path and know what I should do once I get the thing unhooked, before I go tearinig into it.

Anyone else encounter this problem and know what to do about it?

After completely overhauling my wiper/washer motor I can tell you I think I'd try a new switch first. Mine had intermitent operation, so I pulled the old switch apart, cleaned lubed, etc. Still worked the same. Down comes the motor, pulled apart cleaned, lubed, etc, no change. Turns out that the resistor was bad and would resist too much, in fact sometimes it would resist 100%!!. So I broke down and bought a new motor. I got a new washer pump for Christmas, so I threw that on there. It is really a bad system in this day of electronic part though. If I were to do it again I would go buy the universal washer pump from the local gyppo parts store and call it good. Too many moving parts in the stock one.

Did you also have to use an after market switch? From the wiring diagrams I can't tell what wire from the switch does what, since they show the switch and the wiper/washer assembly as one unit.

There are two separate plugs going beteen the two units, but its not as simple as one being for the wiper and one being for the washer because unplugging either one renders both functions inoperable.

Those $10 aftermarket pumps work great. Hide it and run hose through the old pump if originality is a concern. IMO the original pump is junk
