steering column from a van
I understand a van steering column fits well in our trucks and is better because it has the indicator. I can get one from a 85 chev van. Any problems I might have. The van steering shaft is much shorter I think. Can anybody help

85 is too late a column to be an easy swap. You'll be dealing with teh wiper switch and ignition switch wires and locking mech. You'll want one from 72 - 80 without the ignition switch.

Thanks Longhorn. I dont mind the electrical part. I can deal with that. I will be re wiring the truck and will make the wipers work into my plan. I am more concerned with the mechanical ( fit, length etc) will that be the same...Thanks in advance

Well, the 85 van was basicly the same as an 80, or a 72, or a 90, so I would speculate that it would fit with the same mods.
There may be some diameter ploblems up in the cab...I am pretty sure the 85 would be much fatter where it goes under the dash, but that shouldn't be too hard to overcome. |
