bed floor?
I want a steel floor for my '68 swb fleet. I can't find anyone making this aftermarket. I don't want a wood floor. What can I do?

I too like the steel floor in my green 67 BUT unrotten steel bedfloors are non existant here. Do you already have a steel floor thats rotten? I do & I'm going to cut out patch panels from a donor bed & weld them in & after grinding I'll hide the welding under some line-x. LMC used to have the full bedfloor panels in their catalogue but the no longer list them - mabe give them a call & see if they have any left?

I have a complete steel floor that is near or as close to NOS as can be. I might be willing to let it go for exchange for a new wood floor. I'll think on this one.

Hey Greg did you see the floor in that truck at bucks? It was in pretty decent shape. Not sure if it is there still though.

I have a couple of floors that I would sell. Both are fairly straight with a couple of small rusty spots. I'd take $75 each for them. I have pics if you're interested.

Yea, me either. I'm sure it would have to go truck, which would mean $$$. Never shipped something truck though, so I don't know.

mine is 3 layers of diamond plate welded in....works good for carrying bulldozers without scratching your bed...:p

16" x 48" bed patch panels are available from Chevy Duty or GMC Pauls, (probably others, also).

Steal floors are certainly better about not having to scratch and worry about having to redo, I have oak in mine and lasted very well for three years, then had some little whimp help me put a new Snow Blower in the back and he dragged the frame of the box in the bed and left some huge Gouges in the wood, wasnt Happy..

Tim sold a rust free floor out of that ochre bed that you are getting the bedsides form Greg. He had the entire bed for sale for $150 and a guy offered him $100 just for the floor!! The truck that Tim took it off had been sitting in a guys yard for 12 years |

Some people just seem to hit on the good finds I guess. Mabe I dont look hard enough or something, but the good stuff (i.e. the solid bedfloor) is almost always gone before I get there... I'll make my own bedfloor! I got me a welder now & I'm gonna use it! I saw that floor @ Bucks/Mervs & its got a serious case of the tin worms... I LOVE gotmud's idea of checkerplate! It'll last forever & I'll get better winter traction as a bonus.

Here how I fixed the floor in my 65 GMC--sheet of 5/8 marine plywood--alum. checkerplate on top of this-bolted down with stainless button head bolts.
