oil pressure gauge

I just painted the instrument cluster for the "brighter dash lights" fix. Before assembling everything I thought I would test all the bulbs. The oil pressure gauge is pegging out with key on and when engine is running. I know before it sat to the far left with key on and the engine not running.

There are 3 connections on the back shaped like an upside down triangle. The top left has 12 volts and the bottom is ground. The top right has nothing unless you plug the gauge in and then it has about 8 or 9 volts that run through the switch.

Any thoughts on what my problem is before I put everything back together? It's alot easier to get to now.

I disconnected that wire and the tab that it attaches to pulled out of the sending unit. Guess I'll go get a new one tomorrow.
Thanks
